Germany hit by road toll fiasco

Well, they may have the worlds fastest freeway, but their seeming to be having use with have the worlds most technically advanced toll-booth. BBC is reporting that Germany could stand to loose millions since this new system isn’t working as it was suppose to…months ago.

A pioneering German project to collect road tolls using satellite technology has suffered a setback which could cost the state up to $8.3bn in lost revenue.

The German government has cancelled its contract with a consortium of top companies - called Toll Collect - because of costly delays.

Transport Minister Manfred Stolpe said the debacle was damaging to Germany’s image and a blow to innovation. [Full Text]
