First our POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) got answering machines. They became a friend to the busy person as they would never miss a call when out. Then we got voice mail at work. They became lifesavers for the busy worker as they wouldn’t miss that critical call while getting a free cup of coffee from the cafeteria. Next we got cellular phones. They got voicemail, too. Now the benefit started to become an annoyance. Three different numbers one calls to find some one and no one can be found. Well it’s about to get more annoying, folks.
JK has spotted the first answering machine for VoIP. That’s an answering machine for your computer’s Voice over IP, Harry. Yes, now when you’re away from your computer, it will gleefully pick up and say, “Hi, I’m away from my computer, but if you leave a name and VoIP number at the tone, I’ll ping you back when I can.”
Isn’t technology sweet?
