Remember how I posted early this week about the Bluetooth fix in the V710, Monday? Remember how Verizon sent me a brand new V710 with the fix? Welp, got the phone up and running yesterday and playing with it for a day and half I’ve found no Bluetooth differences. Still can’t transfer files between my PC or PocketPC and the phone. Still can’t hear my ringer tones through my Bluetooth headset. Still can’t even dial a contacts phone number from my PocketPC. Nope, I see not a single difference and I’m not even going to bother trying the Phone Tools via Bluetooth because it’ll be 10 times slower then the USB. Why even go through the hassle?
So what did change? Well you immediately notice a change on power-up when you look at the external display. They’ve changed the background and it is now way easier to read the display. Much easier. Another quick notice-the-change difference is the camera. Man, the pictures are totally better now. I can finally take pictures in a dark setting and get a descent picture. It’s still not the best, but it’s way better then it was before. It also appears Moto put thicker plastic cover-stops in to avoid the keypad from scratching the screen. I’m leaving the plastic protector on just in case for a while to make sure it really is fixed there. The only other difference I’ve noticed is adding a shortcut is easier now. You just highlight the icon you want and hold the menu button down for two seconds. Though that could have been in the old style, too, I just can’t remember for sure.
Still can’t play ring tones from your TransFlash card and still can’t use Picture ID from your external, either. So keep those ID’s small. I did find today that if I convert my MP3’s to mono, I save half the file size, so I can now get a 30 seconds song down to 70kb and it sounds fine as a ring tone. Guess I’ll need to clean up my older ring tones to make room for some newer ones..
Hey, added a few more people with ID’s, too. Brian, you’re in there (so give me one on yours now!
), my parents have a picture together for their home number, Jon’s got one, and a couple other people. I got to get MNF Theme song for my dad since he’s known for his sports viewing. Heck, if I can find ABC Wide World of Sports theme, that be even better! ![]()
