Trusting in Man is Not a Good Idea

Thus says the LORD, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD. “For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD. “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.
(Jeremiah 17:5-8 NASB)

So many think if we just trust in this or that book, or get a really good consultant, or even model ideas after other successful people, we’ll be set. But guess what God’s Word says? We will not prosper if we do that. In fact, we are cursed if think and do that route! Wow, harsh and strong words, no? But’s the whole point.

It is the Lord we need to seek are wisdom and direction from. Without Him, we are nothing. Ya, you can say this is a “crutch-argument” and that’s fine, ’cause if I can lean on the Creator of the Universe and all things, that’s what I would want as a crutch. :) Trump’s nearly gone flat in the past, had a couple of wives, and in the end, it’ll all be worth nothing when he dies. For me, I’m going with the Guy that has everything. :)
