I often have this argument with my buddies and it’s always an interesting battle we engage in. In the end, I the more superior and better equipped debater, win. 
But if you’re not as skilled in this fine art of which air-ramming technology is truly the best, then worry not, VW has an answer that will make both camps happy that you may refer to. It appears that those really smart German engineers have done what this really smart German lead foot writer has been asking all along: why not combine them both? Ja, das ist gut and that’s what the peoples car will be doing to some really small four-bangers. Now due to time constraints because of my constant need to feed this really smart German brain of mine, I just can’t get into details. I’ll let the good folks at Autoblog give you all the 411 on this sweet technology that I hope the Muscle Kings of America (read: GM, Ford, or Chrysler) will pick up on this and stuff it on a freakin’ V8 real soon! (And please, RWD!)
