After months of battling cancer, Chief Judge Rehnquist died last night preventing him to start another season on the Supreme Court bench as he had told reporters he would do after leaving the hospital just two months ago. Now that the battle for O’Conner’s seat wages on, a new one that will surely be even nastier and bloodier is to ensue in the weeks before us. It is my feeling that Bush has had two or maybe three justices he would like to see on the court and Rehnquist’s replacement will most likely be coming within the week.
