Saddam Faces the Music

A defiant Saddam Hussein defied the courts to the point of yelling and scuffling with guards in a shoving match — he won. However it was just a small battle win and the war isn’t over, so to say. He is standing before the court of the new Iraq for the brutal murder of nearly 150 Shiites in the town of Dujail in 1982. Hussein pleaded innocent. If found guilty, he could face the same doom he inflicted on the Shiites over twenty years ago: death.

Hussein repeatably refereed to himself as the president of Iraq and refused to state his name when asked by a Shiite court official. Hussein continues the tough guy act, and why not, he’s got nothing really to lose at this point but his life. His tough shell may give the insurgents hope and allow them to continue their fight. I can think of no other reason Saddam may doing this other then he is a very prideful man that can not except defeat. Either way, I do see death in his future — his death.
