We were on our way to Vision Forum’s offices this morning and on the way down the hill Teri calls over the walkie-talkie to tell us that my front driver tire is flat as can be. I pull over and confirm that indeed it is void of any air. We turn around and pump it up after I located the nail in tread row two. It was solidly in and I figured it would easily get us to National Car Rental for the replacement.
When I arrived to the car rental to swap, there wasn’t much of a selection of cars. All that was left was a Yukon and a Rendezvous. Not wanting Tiger Woods disguised minivan, I opted for the Yukon. During checkout, however, the rental agent informed me at the gate that it had a third row and was thus deemed a full size. I had to go with the Rendezvous. Oddly enough, the Envoy had a third row, too.
While the car agent processed the exchange, a gentleman in a suit asked if the Rendezvous was the car I was taking. I told him that it was and he then requested permission to check the key ring as he had the same minivan last week and left his house key on it. Sure enough after checking the key ring, there was his key! “What are the odds of that?” asked the business man. I responded with a laugh, “Not odds at all with God.” He agreed and thanked me as he left in a Dodge Magnum. Ya, I would have easily gone with that if I knew that was an option.
Anyway, here I am in this front wheel drive minivan wondering what makes a Buick a Buick. First thing I notice is how cheap it looks inside. The seats are uncomfortable (my back is in more pain then usual,) the plastic heavy, and the cabin noise high. I figure this is a step up from a Chevy, but man, I’ve been in nicer Chevy’s then this. The only plus this car has is it’s got better power-to-weight ratio. I can feel the pull from this V6 when compared to the heavier GMC Envoy we had.
I wonder if Tiger actually drives this Pontiac Aztec in Buick clothing. I highly doubt it, ’cause it really is a joke. After driving this, I think GM can kill off the Buick division, too. Shesh.
