SkyTel Goes From Beepers to Hotspots

When Sir Mix-A-Lot rapped about SkyPager (now SkyTel) in Beepers, I wonder if he ever thought that one day he could use them to surf the Internet to get the 411 on San Ho, his next show, before arriving their in the Benz-o. (Ya, ya, I know, I’m white and can’t rap, but I tried.) Well, if he’s in Lexington, Kentucky, he can. SkyTel is lighting up some Wi-Fi for home and business users and they’re even falling back on their new parent, MCI, for a T1 backup for the biz customers. If all works out well, Mix-A-Lot may have to add this bit of news to his remake when Beepers (Ah-Oh-6 Remix) comes out early next spring (maybe Chris can vouge on this rumor since he lives in Sir’s hometown.)
