When I first read about G.W. Bush’s testimony, I was really excited that we had a true man of God in the White House for a change. His speeches, filled with Bible quotes and references to God, always reassured me that he was a man of Jesus Christ. But lately many things he does and says baffles me. Like hosting a Ramadan dinner at the White House this year. What’s that about? “Worship no other gods or idols except for me” is what my Bible says and I’m pretty sure GW’s got the same Bible.
I know him saying that the Islamic religion is a “peaceful” one after 9/11 is all politics and the ones that don’t follow the Koran as it is written I guess are peaceful, but truth be, Bin Laden is obeying his religion correctly, according to it’s word.
Now Bush goes to China and visits a “Christian” church there. He signs a book along with his wife and takes the photo op for the world to see.
During his visit to the Gangwashi Church — one of five Protestant churches sanctioned by the government — Bush signed a guest book with the words: “May God bless the Christians of China.” With her signature Laura Bush, who’s accompanying her husband, added, “with love and respect.” [Source]
You know, hosting the Ramadan dinner and calling Islamic religion peaceful is one thing but to go to a fake Christian church in China is a slap in the face to those Chinese brothers and sisters in Christ that lose their life because the obey God’s Word and not water it down or alter it because a Communist government says to. If you’re so much caught with a Bible in China, it could mean death, yet here Bush goes and pretty much says “this is okay”. Man, what a bummer. I KNOW he KNOWS what’s really going on there and not to stand up to this crime is a crime in itself.
So I ask, what is Bush really doing? I really doubt he’s trying to boost his ratings by this because this country is so anti-Christian now that he certainly wouldn’t be speaking to the majority of the U.S. Further, he’s got to know most Christian’s will be upset with this visit. So it’s a lose-lose situation. So again, why GW? What’s the deal? What a bummer…

Sven,
If I may, there are real Christians in the TSPM (gov’t sponsored) churches. In fact, some believers who are in house churches also attend TSPM churches. While it’s true that many gov’t sanctioned churches are severely monitored and watered-down; there are others where the gospel is preached. So to be calling them “fake” churches is a bit harsh and uninformed.
Note that he didn’t write, “May God bless the gov’t sponsored churches in China,” but rather “the Christians.” He’s no dummy, methinks. I think what he did was fair and not to be criticized.

You’ve been there and you, as true brother in Christ, would know. Thank you for weighing in and it is a bit of relief to know.
