Ah-oh, looks Mac-heads are going to have to add the penguin to their hate tray as Apple stated in a recent SEC filing that Linux poses a threat to OS X. Silicon.com is reporting that Apple’s K-10 filing has some choice statements of fear in it such as this one:
“Over the past several years, price competition in the market for personal computers and related peripherals has been particularly intense as competitors who sell Windows and Linux based personal computers have aggressively cut prices and lowered their product margins for personal computing products.”
The statement goes on to confirm that its OS X, “has a minority market share in the personal computer market,” and that OS X is “dominated” by Linux as well as Microsoft’s operating system, Windows.
It’s not all doom-and-gloom as Apple highlights its success in its “digital media” realm and how the Cupertino based company shall easily continue the dominance in this field.
