Sony has done everything in its AV empire it could do to force proprietary crap down the consumers throats for years with the release of its digital products. From the Memory Stick to the ATRAC codec, Sony felt it knew better. Forget CompactFlash or SecureDigital. Nah, that MP3 is garbage, too. Looks like Sony doesn’t fully agree with the later anymore as it will release a car stereo head unit that plays MP3’s natively. Even cooler, the face plate plugs into a PC via a USB cable and allows for drag-n-drop of 1GB worth of Mp3’s to be played on the deck. Now that’s cool! But don’t worry, if you fell for the Sony Connect trap and have a few burned ATRAC 3 discs, the built-in CD player will play those as well. All-in-all, Sony may be finally waking up to the digital revolution.
