The FCC’s at it again and this time it’s giving the Palm public a full — and complete — look at the upcoming Verizon Treo 700w. The manual details many of the features of the next generation Palm including a nice screen capture of the Today screen. Palm has done a nice job of putting cellular phone information on the Today screen that other Windows smartphone have been lacking. Also added is the ease of looking up a contact or going straight to a web page from the Today screen. You’ll notice a battery indicator next to the time as well, which is one of the major features I’ve never understood why Microsoft neglected to have included into a power hungry device.

The Treo 700w looks exciting and if it continues to build on the previous strengths of this great hardware Palm has made dating back to when it was Handspring, I think this could be the smartphone to have. My only problem with it is the stupid square screen. While I’m looking for more pixels in the tune of VGA, Palm goes and cuts more off the already smaller QVGA LCD. I don’t know why it’s done this since the 650 uses the longer portrait style screen. I’ll have to read the manual to find out more. :)

Actually, the 650 doesn’t have a longer portrait style screen. It just has more pixels (320×320) than the 700w (240×240).
