Good news for all your Verizon Wireless EV-DO users. You can now use your handset as a modem for your laptop with Verizon’s blessing. For just $60 a month, you’ll get unlimited data connection on both your handset and your laptop when using a USB cable. Sorry, no Bluetooth support. That may have been asking for a little too much, but hey, this is a start, right? Look on the bright side, at least the USB option charges your battery instead of drains it.
Supported handsets will be the LG VX9800 and VX8100, Motorola e815 and V3c. As to the really hot EV-Do units, the XV6700 and Treo 700W smartphones, these will not be supported…at launch. These will be supported eventually as SvenOnTech was able to get confirmation from UTStarcom, maker of the XV6700, that they are working with Verizon Wireless on a USB solution at this time.
