Goodbye Maxthon

I’ve used Maxthon, a web browser that uses the IE engine, for over a year. Its use was due to the many ActiveX sites I frequented day-to-day, forcing me to stick with an IE-type browser.

Since I have been using my MacBook Pro for the last two weeks while in Tucson, I found that nearly all, but one, site no longer required Internet Explorer. Then, out of curiosity, I checked that one site from my Windows machine in Firefox and sure enough, it had a Firefox Extension. Thank you LogMeIn! (So how about making it work on the Mac now!)

With that great news, I officially gave Maxthon the kick to the curb today! I really did have to give it a kick since Outlook kept opening links in it and not Firefox. I uninstalled Maxthon and now am using Firefox (and Flock) on both my Mac and PC. It’s soooo nice to be able to use the same browser on both platforms. I love the iTunes Extension as well as the QuickSearch feature (Alias in Maxthon.) It’s good to be back on Firefox (again) as I always feel dirty (and like something is installing that shouldn’t be,) when using IE. It’s nice to be clean, again.
