President Satoru Iwata stunned a crowd in San Jose at the Game Developers Conference when he told them about the next Nintendo gaming system, code named Revolution, would not only play every legacy Nintendo game back to the NES, but it would also play every game from the Sega Genesis as well as games from the NEC Turbografx.

Yes, that means both Donkey Kong and Sonic will be living on the same gaming console as well as some sweet racing games from the Turbo’ camp. (Sorry, I can’t remember any Turbografx games as the only one I knew that had it was my brother-in-law way back when.) Don’t worry if you don’t have any games or are trying to figure out how to get your Sega cart or Turbografx “card” into the Revolution because Nintendo will be offering downloads from the Revolution’s Virtual Console service. With over 1,000 games to choose from, you’ll be sure to find your old favorite. No word on how many Turbografx games will be available, but you might luck out and find every game put out for it which would round out to about 20.

Ask me and I’ll tell you this is more exciting than any PS3, even if it does claim true HD output! I’m old school, man. This is the stuff I grew up with. Killing people for their car isn’t “fun” for me. Nope, knocking apes out and saving women, ya, that’s my ticket to fun. :)
