If you are a lucky EV-DO using Verizon customer and have that unlimited data plan attached to your account, then you may be interested in knowing that you can be getting some unlimited SMS, too. Using the package name, “PDA SMS 2000 ALLOWANCE, code 70246″, your account will now allow for 2,000 SMS messages per month without charge, or at least that’s what the 2000 means in the plans name. But many posters at Howard Forums are stating that they’ve gone way over the 2,000 limit and have incurred no added cost. Additionally, some have sent a good amount of pictures messages, or MMS, and have not found the dirty twenty-five cent charge per picture on their bill. Seems like you get unlimited SMS and MMS with this plan, my friend!

Now remember, you need to have a PDA phone, such as the Treo 700w, Samsung i730, or the UTStarcom XV6700, with the unlimited data plan. These two keys give you the right to the unlimited SMS due to the fact that Verizon does not support Microsoft’s true Push-Mail on the latest Exchange and thus have to resort to using SMS for PDA activation for message synchronization.

It’s advised you call the Wireless Data Support at 866-788-9387 as this is a very obscure plan and many within the “the network that never stops working for you” has no idea that this even exists. Kinda like a black-book plan. :) My friendly customer service person had to dig, but found it and had no problem adding the plan after removing my SMS/MMS plan. That plan cost me ten dollar a month which gave me 500 SMS/MMS messages per month. Now I don’t pay for them and I’m a happier camper.

With my mail on my PDA nearly in real-time, I just giggle when I read my mail anywhere I may be. Aaah, THIS is how technology should be working for me…and you.
