Now that Apple has fixed its heat issue with SMC firmware update, the questions will be tested as to if the increased fan use will have any ill effect on battery life.

SvenOnTech fitted its MacBook Pro Rev. A unit with the update soon after its release and immediately noticed a cooler aluminum case next to that MagSafe power tip. After only one hour of use, no SOT writers were burned when their hands graced the left side of the MacBook Pro. While the desk still complained that it was still feeling lots of heat, we think it won’t scar it like previous sittings of our MBP did to the other desk. That poor $99 guy we bought at Staples last year. It was such a hard and efficient work bench. Oh well, it made for a great bonfire behind the SOT HQ office.

We’ll be sure to test the battery on this bad boy after letting it run for a day via the AC to see if the heat remains down. Then it’ll be some independent testing. We’ll be pulling out all of our really gnarly equipment we got off of eBay from the Jeff Spicoli’s father and Doc’s stuff that he used to make that sweet DeLorean move into yesterday. We’ll have some sweet facts for ya by next week for sure! We’ll also read forum postings and just see if our MBP dies earlier than before.
