Nearly three years ago, SvenOnTech told you about a neat little accessory from Radio Shack that would boost our volume on our Palm T3. We used it for our big over-the-hear headphones to get the ultimate kick and loved the results.

Well looks the folks at Cyberguys are picking up on this booster thing and it has listed a very similar device called the Boostaroo Hi-def Surround Amplifier. The difference between Cyberguys amp and Radio Shacks offering is the former has one less jack than the latter and states that it, ” quadruples the potential output volume of your MP3 player, it also digitally enhances the sometimes-tinny sound of compressed audio to create a vibrant, full-room sound,” over Radio Shacks version. Oh ya, Cyberguys is also charging almost three times more than Radio Shack.

Now we can’t tell you for sure if the Boosteroo really does “enhance” your sound but we know the Radio Shack sounds like it indeed is blasting more volume and four times sounds about right. As for the sound, our high quality headphones sound pretty darn good with the Radio Shack version and since it only cost us $25, we liked that much better than the $65 our beloved Cyberguys are asking for. Do resistors really cost that much more? (Radio Shack has those real cheap, Cyberguys. ;) )

Oh ya, one more plus for the Radio Shack, it uses AA instead of AAA. Longer life.
