Have just read too many blogs commenting about the Segway and now with the Segseat being for lazy people. Sven above was the last article I read and ended up focusing on Maggie's reply above versus looking at Sven's more clearly. Maggie read the same other blogs that I did I think, and Sven's (which isn't nearly as bad) happened to be the last straw that ---well you know the story.... I still stand by my comments above towards the other 2 or 3 blogs out there not worth spending any more ink over. Have to retract my comments above for this particular article. Here is some guy who wants to blog in something negative and not smart enough to think there might be a possibility that there is another perspective, another thought other than his that might be more positive than his/her thinking. One good thing about the internet is its allowed communication within this small world of ours to explode giving everyone who have access to it a chance to give their thoughts and views. The negative is it gives irresponsible, reckless bozos like this guy with sophistication in writing and blogging making him as someone to listen to by many as an authority to anything he wants or feels like talking about. I wonder how he feels now, being educated to the fact that this item was brought to market with another agenda in mind other than the one that came from his head. He didn't the faces of the paraplegics we lifted up on the Segway and Segseat at the Anaheim Abilities Expo this past month. We shouldn't have done it, but they were so excited and one guy said he hasn't had so much fun since he was walking. One mother had a 10 year old in crutches with a spinal cord issue, he was able to get on, on his own and now in the process of getting a Segway and a Segseat. The whole family had tears in their eyes because he's going to be able to go to school with a Segway and probably become one of the coolest kids in school....Just simply wants to like you and me, that's all, nothing complex not asking for much. My fiance has a disability and commutes to work on his Segway, saving energy, parking spaces, traffic congestion - for the most part, the reactions he gets are overwhelmingly positive, but once in a while some idiot yells "lazy" or some other stupid thing at him - usually from their car window as they drive by. The Segway doesn't replace walking - even for him. It replaces short car trips. We go out to eat, go to the store, and all kinds of errands with me on foot and him on his Segway, that otherwise we would have to drive for. It's the same for non-disabled Segway users - quick trips to the store and post office are more pleasant and environmentally friendly on the Segway than with a couple thousand pounds of exhaust spewing metal. Here is this amazing piece of appropriate technology, one that can reduce so many problems of cities (the aforementioned parking, traffic, and pollution problems, in addition to being more community-building - because when you are outside your car, you talk to people, you get to know your neighbors and local business-people), and people who ~don't think~ say you're lazy if you use it. I'd rather be a "lazy" Segway user than a lazy thinker.
