A reader has informed SvenOnTech that Apple’s hefty sized update (nearly 70 MB) fixes font issues seen in Firefox for some time now. Apple has not publicized the updates Firefox fix, but Hivelogic shows you side-by-side the difference. It’s there and one can see how Intel Macs showed a fainter and less crisp font on the previous versions. Now it seems the largely debated issue of Safari and Firefox font rendering, as previously discussed here at SvenOnTech, no longer seems to be an issue. Right? :)

We downloaded the update and after a reboot did notice darker and cripser fonts on our MacBook Pro. In fact, our favorite research gathering site Clipmarks looks way better now in Firefox. It’s not that the previous lighter version of Firefox bugged us (hey, we never really used Safari, so we didn’t notice) but man, this is much nicer now. :) Thanx, Apple!

Thanx for the tip Terry T.
