A Comcastic Support Tale

Comcast is attempting to position itself as the premiere place for broadband. With its high speed and new VOIP feature, DSL just isn’t even a consideration. However, like many American companies, Comcast is shipping its support overseas to the great land of support central, India. Too bad India comes with problems such as language and accent difficulties.

I had a client tell me of his recent experience with Comcast this morning. He is in the process of a remodel and all his Internet devices, router, cable modem, and firewall, were disconnected. He was attempting to get back onto the Internet and couldn’t. He called Comcast for assistance. Nothing on India’s screen was able to fix his problem. The technician then had my client get down under his desk and fish around for the cables. At this point, my client told the Comcast tech support representive with a bit of frustration, “You know, you have a 65 year-old man on his hand and knees under a desk trying to fix this problem,” to which the Comcast rep answered in a perfect Indian accent, “No problem!” My client just started busting up.

Classic. No. Comclassic. :)
