The best elective class I ever took in high school was typing. I took it for two years and sure everyone made fun of me then, but hey, who was laughing the following year when all those page-heavy reports were due our freshman year at college? Ya, that’s what I thought, punk!
If you haven’t learned to type and want to ditch that search-and-poke style of typing, then you need to learn now.
Ten Thumbs just released an updated version of it’s typing tutor and it may just be the perfect thing for your fingers. What we love about the software is that it is cross-platform compatible. It runs on Macs (Universal), Windows, and Linux. For the first two, it integrates with iTunes 6 and actually gets you typing in the lyrics of the song you’re listening to as it plays. Ten Thumbs will get you on the slow songs first and then move you to the quicker paced ones as your typing improves. You can even control your playlist from within Ten Thumbs. Cool.
At $25.95, Ten Thumbs isn’t a bad price. You can purchase and download it and start learning how to type, or improve your typing, now.
I know I could stand to improve my number row typing, so I’ll see about getting this and reviewing it all for you. Keep your fingers peeled.
