We just plopped the down the review for Equinux’s MediaCentral and if you’re interested in taking your Mac to the next level beyond Front Row, then you’ll want to take a read of our review. Filled with details of what’s new from version one to what doesn’t really work, we think you’ll learn from our difficult and tasking labors of watching hours of video!
We really loved playing with it for the last six weeks and we’re sure that you will love playing with it, too. Oops, did we just give it all away? No, not quite. Now go read!

“One should pity the poor PC user”
Do you really know what you’re talking about or have you just been pushing some buttons in awe that it worked.
Pc users have something called FFDSHOW. Well.. Google it.
I’m a registered mediacentral user. and it’s all a lot of fun.
But the build in CODEC libs suck. The image quality sucks, MP4/H264/XVID don’t play, or only with lousy quality.
AC3 (huh? what?) support is missing, DTS..
Mediacenter will not be a CENTER unless they use VLC as their backend. VLC is the only option on a MAC to play any kind of material.
Apple / OSX will not be a viable option for a HTPC unless some group will develop a FFDSHOW port, or integrate VLC as a workaround.
