SvenOnTech loves our iGo and we do use it for every electronic device we have. The new MacBook Pro (and MacBook) MagSafe power cord led to a new problem, however. iGo had no tip for it and still has none. What to do on the road?

Thankfully, Apple has released a MagSafe compadible power cord for use in both the car and the plane. In classic Apple white, you now can power your MacBook and MacBook Pro in your car on while on a long trip in the air (if you’re so lucky to be able to afford the higher priced seat for such a power port). Sadly, also in classic Apple accessory pricing, the power source is a whopping $60 at the Apple Store (online).

Until iGo comes out with an iTip that is MagSafe compliant, if you’re looking for a way to power your MacBook/Pro, this is your only choice right now. Well, either that or pay for a power inverter to continue to use your AC power cord. Heck, you could probably pick one of those up cheaper than this white expensive puppy.

CAUTION: I think you’ll find that the new MagSafe Airline adapter is NOT for the automobile, so states Apple on the packaging.

Thanks, Dick, for letting us know. The picture looked like it would support DC inputs on cars. As you state, this will not work in your car as one commenter stated he tried and it didn’t work.

Now, for $60, this just isn’t worth it. Too bad.

That’s a different way to put it. I never supposed guessed I’d see you say this, though, after all your other posts about the iPhone! :P
