weComm, the leader in interactive mobile data solutions, today announced that it is strengthening its relationship with Symbian to enable delivery of even more compelling customer applications on Symbian OS(tm) for the broadening smartphone market. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the operating system that powers today’s most popular smartphones.
The two companies have formed a deep relationship following successful projects such as the weComm-developed BSkyB Sky Anytime on Mobile, which provides a superior user experience on Symbian smartphones to those running Java. This strategic partnership includes weComm joining the Symbian Platinum Partner Program.

IDC, predicts that cumulative sales of smartphones will reach over 1 billion units by 2011. Andy Brown, IDC comments, “The smartphone segment of the handset market is seeing strong annual growth and is expected to rise from 57 million units in 2005 to around 250 million units by the end of 2010.”
