I purchased PCmover through DELL when I bought a DELL laptop. After a month of trials, I just found out PCmover is just a trap to suck your money---helped by DELL brand. Here is why:

First, rebate won't work unless you purchase another Laplink product (you'll learn this after you purchased the PCmover, down-loaded rebate form from DELL website). When you found all this, your time is up to return the product (three weeks).

Second, I spend a quite time to set up the transfer between two computers, just found out after 24 hours that the transfer was still not completed. Then I checked every thing, found the transfer Laplink hardware is USB 1.1 version, which is snail version or stone age of USB link.

Finally, PCmover is not compatible to Window Vista. It may punch a hole in your new computer security system (Firewall).

My opinion is: PCmover is an overstock product in Laplink warehouse probably five years ago.

My suggestion: never buy anything from Laplink.com. Be very careful if you buy peripherals from DELL.

I performed a migration that took 36 hours. Thinking that all was well when it was done, I rebooted my PC. Unfortunately, the system wouldn't proceed past the Vista start-up screen. At this stage, I question the reliability of PCmover.

Hi Sven! Thanks for writing about PCmover - I'd just add one thing to your article: the software can also perform the move over a network (wireless included), not just with cables.
