Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation’s most reliable national wireless broadband network, and Unity In Values, the leader in Christian mobile content, today announced The Mobile Word is first available on V CAST from Verizon Wireless. A faith-based channel dedicated to the religious needs of America’s youth, The Mobile Word offers Verizon Wireless V CAST customers cool, faith-based video content that resonates with the youth market. The Mobile Word V CAST channel includes music, extreme sports, and entertainment, age-targeted religious programming from many of the nation’s largest churches and a complete, interactive version of the New Testament.
“With V CAST, Verizon Wireless pioneered wireless entertainment so it only seems appropriate that they would be a pioneer in spiritual mobile content,” stated Fred Clarke, president of Unity In Values. “With a strong presence among young adults, Verizon Wireless helps us reach young people seeking to enjoy and access faith-based content wherever they are.”
With more than 270 million Christians in the U.S. alone, wireless carriers have a unique opportunity to offer young Christians a way to stay connected to their community. The agreement with Verizon Wireless demonstrates Unity In Values’ success in working with religious leaders to deliver compelling, inspirational and fresh entertainment to wireless subscribers.
Delivered via Verizon Wireless’s Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network, The Mobile Word provides access to several of the nation’s largest churches including those of Pastor Greg Laurie, the senior pastor of the Harvest Christian Fellowship, the eighth largest church in America, Pastor Guillermo Maldonado, founder of “El Rey Jesus” Church, one of the fastest growing churches in the South, and others. Verizon Wireless customers can find The Mobile Word in the Spiritual section of V CAST on select V CAST-enabled phones.
John Harrobin, vice president of digital media for Verizon Wireless, said, “What differentiates our V CAST service is our commitment to address the broad content needs of our customers. Our relationship with Unity In Values enables us to provide the best faith-based content, powered by a deep understanding of this spiritually active community, to our customers who want to stay connected and informed while on-the-go.”
To get V CAST, customers with select V CAST-enabled phones can check out V CAST whenever they want for just $3.00 for 24-hour use subscription or by signing up for the $15.00 V CAST VPak monthly subscription. Customers get unlimited basic video – including The Mobile Word – but application download fees apply for 3D games and premium video. There are no airtime charges to download, stream or watch V CAST content.
