Yes, the iPhone is missing that AT&T logo on start up and plastered on the phones case itself. Every other phone on the market has the carriers logo on boot-up and usually popped onto the top of the unit or bottom. You know, somewhere that it’s obvious which provider you’re using. Yet, the iPhone only indicates it is an AT&T phone by the signal indicator and in the settings area. That’s it. Interesting how much power Steve Jobs wields, huh?

Now, for AT&T, everyone knows that it is the only one with the iPhone right now so it’s not too big of deal for it. But that won’t stop the average mom and grandfather from going to a Sprint store or a resellers booth in the mall and asking for an iPhone in about a year when mass market saturation occurs. Maybe by then, AT&T will get its logo on the iPhone. Maybe.

Me? I’m elated an AT&T logo is not on the phone. Man, I hate how phones become branded by the carrier and this is one instance where non-subsidizing worked in my favor. $600 is a small price to pay for a brand-free phone, huh? ;)
