rattyuk has a bit of a point.

I, for one, have already put a great deal of my personal Beatles collection onto iTunes from CD. Once those songs do come out on iTunes Store, there's really little left for me to want to purchase.

Did Apple Records think I was going to wait forever to put the Beatles on my iPod?

Not entirely sure, Sven...

Don't get me wrong, I got the white album when I was 10 for my birthday - right around when it came out - and I still get a kick out of playing "Back In The USSR" while driving into Miami these days :-)

But - really not sure if the kids "get it" - that and the fact that Apple Records left it so late to come to the party I think that it has counted against them.

rattyuk. True, but the iPhone rumors where strong with no-show two years before it actually appeared last year, too.

Bob, look to the Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd catalog just released on iTunes and how well its done. Many whom own the vinyl, 8-tracks, cassettes, and CDs of the bands work went ahead and downloaded the entire catalog in large numbers.

As for the Beatles popularity, its catalog is still one of the best selling ones to date. The kids get it and will want it.

You know, if they did announce that, I don't see where anybody would really care that much. The fans have long ago bought ever iteration of the Beatles library on CD, and surely have copied it over to their iPods and computers. New sales, maybe, but not in huge numbers. The kids today aren't interested in them, and that would have to be the case for many new sales.
