“We are elated to bring Solar Surge to energy conscious apple fanatics nationwide” said Silvia Zimmermann, Marketing Director for Novothink. “We strongly feel that being the first Apple certified solar charging case for the iPhone and iPod touch is a huge step towards incorporating solar technology into everyday life.”
Tap Into the Power of the Sun – Novothink’s advanced solar technology provides about 30 minutes of talk time on a 3G network or 60 minutes on 2G from a mere 30 minutes of direct sunlight. Novothink also includes USB cable to charge Surge on a rainy day.
Advanced Battery Technology – Surge’s lithium-ion polymer battery(1500mAH for iPodTouch and 1320mAH for iPhone) more than doubles the battery capacity through a highly efficient charger. The smart charging technology automatically sends a charge whenever it needs juice and there is sufficient power reserved. There are no switches to worry about, it will know precisely when to stop and start charging. There’s also an integrated thermal sensor to prevent potential overheating if its environment becomes too hot.
Infinite Uses for the Outdoor Enthusiast – Surge includes a cutout for wrist straps and smaller carabiners making it ideally suited for traveling, hiking, biking, trips to the beach, and camping.
LED Indicators – The 4 built-in LED lights let you know if you have a sufficiently powerful light source in addition to how much charge remains in the battery.
Solar Planner – Novothink developed a free Solar Planner App that provides an estimate of how much sun exposure is necessary to maintain the battery level of your iPod Touch or iPhone based on your everyday usage and the current weather forecast.

New Potato Technologies, an innovator and developer of iPod and iPhone accessories, today introduced FLPR™, a revolutionary new accessory and app that transforms iPhone and iPod touch into a universal remote control. FLPR lets users control multiple electronic devices, including televisions, cable and satellite boxes, stereo systems, lights, ceiling fans and just about anything else that uses an infrared remote control. Available this month from Best Buy stores nationwide, and online at http://www.newpotatotech.com, the revolutionary FLPR replaces a sea of remotes cluttering up the home.
FLPR is a snap to set up. After purchasing the FLPR infrared interface and popping it into the iPhone/iPod touch dock connector, users simply download the free FLPR app from the App Store℠ online store. Once the app is launched, choose the device “type,” select “brand,” “name it” and “use it.” It’s that easy. FLPR comes pre‐programmed with over 14,000 remote control codes, including all major electronics brands.
Unlike other universal remote solutions for iPhone and iPod touch, FLPR’s extensive database of over 14,000 pre‐programmed remote control codes means that you don’t have to spend time learning your existing remotes “button by button.” FLPR works with hundreds of brands of devices out of box with no programming necessary.
FLPR is also a learning remote. If the remote control code for that old television in the guest bedroom is not in the extensive FLPR database, you can easily teach FLPR the code for that old relic, creating a brand new remote.
The user‐friendly, stylish interface of FLPR rivals that of expensive, high‐end universal remotes. What’s more, FLPR can be personalized with the included free background skins. The screen for each device you control can have a distinct look so you can instantly tell the remote for the television apart from the iPod docking sound system.
FLPR has a range of about 30 feet and is powered by the iPhone/iPod touch. The free FLPR app is available now in the iTunes store. For more, visit http://www.newpotatotech.com/flpr.
The FLPR infrared interface will be available March 4, 2010 at NewPotatoTech.com and in‐store nationwide at Best Buy on March 28, 2010 for $79.99.

Many have stated they don’t like the iPhone for it’s lack of a keyboard and tactile feedback. Well, this may be the answer to that complaint. Read the press release below.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to improve typing speed and reduce text errors on the iPhone while keeping the touch screen’s look, function and size? 4iThumbs [http://www.4ithumbs.com] has an answer.
Launched today for the 2009 holiday season, 4iThumbs is a clear, tactile typing aid for the iPhone’s touch screen that facilitates faster and more accurate typing, enables blind typing, reduces glare and is the strongest screen protector on the market. The clear screen has tactile ridges that guide thumbs for accurate input to ease the transition from other smartphones to the iPhone, making the device more accessible for those who need tactile feedback when typing. The attachment enhances the iPhone user experience without disrupting the sleek design and can remain on the screen at all times without impeding screen or app functions. However, it can also be removed and inserted seamlessly on the rear of the device. 4iThumbs is available for purchase at http://www.4iThumbs.com.
4iThumbs is the invention of the 4iThumbs team led by Jerry Rosengarten, a serial entrepreneur, investor and owner of Stand, home of the famed “Toasted Marshmallow Shake” and New York Magazine’s pick for the best NYC burger in July 2009. A diehard Apple fan who has owned every model of the Mac computer since its introduction in 1984, Rosengarten has always been an early adopter and purchased his first iPhone on the day of release. He appreciated the groundbreaking design and functionality but noted the iPhone’s most acknowledged drawback—lack of a physical keyboard. Independent studies have shown iPhone users make more text entry errors than users of hard key phones, even after a month of use.* Rosengarten created 4iThumbs to address this problem and in company tests, 4iThumbs was found to reduce the number of text entry errors, improve typing speed, and enable blind typing. The attachment also effectively taught new users how to type on the iPhone when transitioning from other smartphones like the Blackberry.
“4iThumbs is an iPhone typing aid that helps users increase typing speed and accuracy. Whether you choose to keep the attachment or use it like training wheels, the beauty of this product is that it maintains the sleek look of the device while enhancing usability and offers a bridge for those who want an iPhone but avoid it because they need tactile feedback to type quickly,” said Rosengarten.
Made in America, 4iThumbs is priced at $14.95 for the portrait version, $16.95 for the landscape version and $19.95 for both. It is available for online purchase at http://www.4iThumbs.com.For more information, please visit http://www.4iThumbs.com or contact info@4iThumbs.com.
The WiFi Body Scale will record your weight, lean & fat mass, and even calculate your body mass index (BMI). No worries if you are in a dash out the door for work as Withings even comes with a free iPhone app that will show you history easily and quickly with a tap of an icon. If you are using one of many health sites, such as daily burn, fit orbit, RunKeeper, Calories 2, Aujourhui.com, or Google health, Withings can even enter the information into one of these services seamlessly for free.
“We strive to bring innovation, design and technology to everyday objects through a wireless connection to the internet and we feel the WiFi Body Scale truly delivers on all fronts,” said Cedric Hutchings, Withings General Manager. “We are excited to bring the scale to the American public and establish ourselves in the marketplace as makers of wirelessly connected products that make everyday life better.”
Now, I’ve used other smart-scales and BMI has always been a pain to calculate. It requires user supplied variables and without a keyboard on the scale, it’s not very fun setting up. Further, most just offer percentages. The WiFi Body Scale uses bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) to figure out your actual body fat and then displays that number in pounds or kilograms. So you’ll know exactly how many pounds of fat you have. Sweet! Well, it might actually be painful to see.
At $160, you can purchase the scale directly from Withings or from Amazon. While a bit pricey, I must say, I’ve haven’t been so excited about a product in some time as I am about the WiFi Body Scale. The scale brings many technologies together that strives to help you reach your goal and maintain a healthy lifestyle…in a fun way. That excites me.
Nuvo Group USA, announces the release of the Ritmo™ Advanced Pregnancy Sound System, which delivers unparalleled quality and safe sound to prenatal listeners.
Ritmo was created to provide a convenient, comfortable and safe way for families to share the sensory and emotional experience of bonding through sound and music with their developing baby.
Ritmo can connect to most audio devices with a universal stereo plug–such as iPods, MP3 players, iPhones and Blackberries. Here’s how it works…
The expectant mother wears a fashionable, lightweight belt around her pregnant belly. The belt has four speakers and a controller, the size of a deck of cards, which fits comfortably into a tiny pocket.
Your own audio player plugs into the controller, which utilizes Nuvo’s patented Safe & Sound Technology to regulate the output of sound to a safe level for a baby to hear in-utero, regardless of how loud the sound was recorded or the volume that it is played.
Research shows that reactive listening begins at 17 weeks gestation. Often referred to as the Mozart Effect, numerous studies show that music contributes positively to human fetal development, bonding and stress reduction.
But with Ritmo, the type of sound that can be delivered in-utero has expanded way beyond music.
Using Ritmo, a baby in the womb can hear a recording of:
# dad reading his favorite book
# siblings talking or singing
# grandparents singing a lullaby
# the family dog barking
and, yes…even someone talking to him/her on a phone from miles away.
When the family isn’t taking turns using Ritmo to bond with baby, the mom-to-be will love how easily Ritmo fits into her active lifestyle. Whether practicing yoga, walking the dog, working or simply relaxing, Ritmo’s soft state-of-the-art fabric belt is lightweight, elasticized, supportive, washable and irritation-free.
“My Ritmo is so comfortable I wear it when I’m cleaning house, watching TV, or even reading a book,” says Tara Meussling. “I am a big fan of the Temptations so I play them on my Ritmo so my baby can enjoy it too. When he starts moving, I know it’s working!”
Post-pregnancy, Ritmo will continue to adapt to children’s’ changing environments and needs, with applications for the crib, stroller and toys all coming soon.
IDAPT, a Spanish company specializing in mobile energy technology, is announcing its portable charging systems product line for 2010. The three models in the IDAPT line – i4, i3, and i2 – were showcased at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week.
IDAPT charging stations bring a complete and affordable solution to consumers with multiple mobile devices that each have unique charging cords. Its simple interchangeable tips system allows users to charge up to four devices at once without the mess of four different tangled wires, or the need for more than one outlet plug.
Of course, different mobile users have different needs: IDAPT’s models give consumers the option for more or less charging capacity. The i4, which is the highlight of the product line, has four points of charge, including a USB port. The i3 and i2 offer three and two points, respectively, and use the same interchangeable tips as the i4.
The IDAPT interchangeable tips are compatible with over 3,500 devices (Apple, Garmin, Blackberry, Sony, Nintendo, etc.), making the IDAPT a completely customizable charging solution for any home, office, or bedroom. IDAPT is committed to forward capability by creating new charging tips as soon as new devices hit the market. Users will also appreciate the two-button “quick release” feature to the tips, which allows for safe and easy ejection.
“We understand the modern hassle of juggling several different charging systems on a daily basis,” says Jeremy Patay of IDAPT. “That’s why we created the IDAPT: it offers organization and powerful simplicity for a truly affordable price.”
More reasonably priced than its competitors, the IDAPT universal charger is available from $34.95, which includes 6 charging tips. Additional tips can also be sold separately for $9.99 each. For more information, visit www.idaptweb.com or email contact@idaptweb.com.
