Recreate the effects of your favorite guitarist with TC Electronic’s new TonePrint enabled pedals

Guitar and Bass effects specialist TC Electronic today announces five new guitar effects pedals. Each pedal features TonePrint technology, an exclusive feature that gives guitarists instant and free access to preset effects specially created by guitar legends such as John Petrucci, Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal, Joe Perry, Orianthi and Doug Aldrich.

The new pedals – Corona Chorus, Flashback Delay & Looper, Vortex Flanger, Shaker Vibrato and Hall of Fame Reverb all benefit from the TonePrint feature. Users activate the custom-made preset by downloading their favorite guitarist’s TonePrint from the TC Electronic website. Once set to the TonePrint setting, the pedal will recreate the effect set up by the famous guitarists.

The pedals are also entirely future proof, as an ever expanding number of artists are continuing to add their individual settings to the TC Electronic library. To obtain the free presets, guitarists simply connect the pedal via USB to a PC or Mac and visit the TC Electronic website. The settings are downloaded direct to the pedal. Each pedal holds one TonePrint at a time, but the concept is unlimited as users can swap TonePrints as many times as they want.

The Pedals

Shaker Vibrato
The Shaker Vibrato features two types of vibrato: a classic true pitch vibrato and ‘latch mode’ where the effect is only active when the user press and hold the switch. This allows for subtle vibrato and faux-whammy bar effects without having to repeatedly tap the bypass button (effect on/off button). In addition, the pedal gives intuitive Speed, Depth, Color and Ramp controls to allow users create their own ‘Vibrato’ effects at any time.

Vortex Flanger
The Vortex Flanger pedal offers Speed, Depth, Feedback and Delay-Time controls with a creative and expansive palette of tonal options. Vortex Flanger is built with guitarists in mind, so it features a toggle switch to go between classic pedal flanger tones and 60s style tape-flange.

Corona Chorus
Corona Chorus offers a shimmering and warbly sound. With three different chorus settings –Two pretuned by TC as well as the custom TonePrint setting, Corona Chorus handles any situation or musical style. The stereo input and outputs ensure super flexible set-up possibilities. The Speed, Depth, Color and Level controls allow for instant tweaking.

Flashback Delay and Looper
Flashback Delay & Looper features a seven second delay time and every delay type one could ever wish for – from TC Electronic’s legendary 2290 delay to old-school tape echo. In total, there are nine different types to choose from and it even doubles as a looper! Flashback Delay & Looper also features TC Electronic’s audio tapping technology, allowing users to set the delay times by strumming the guitar and a toggle switch that goes between quarter notes, dotted 8s or stereo, with different values left and right.

Hall-of-Fame Reverb
Hall of Fame Reverb is a collection of the ultimate reverbs, packed tightly in one cool pedal that handles any situation that calls for a touch (or handfuls) of rich reverberation. In total, Hall of Fame Reverb offers 10 reverb types for a world of inspiration! Halls, Plates, Rooms, Chambers and will cover anything from subtle ambience to full-blown cathedral greatness, whilst Decay, Color and Level controls allows for easy and instant tweaking of the sounds. Further, stereo inputs and outputs, handling both instrument and line level/FX Loop signals, ensure super flexible routing options.

“Ever since people started to play musical instruments there has always been others trying to emulate the best”, Tore Mogensen product manager for TC Electronic states. “The unique TonePrint technology allows users, of all abilities, from all over the world, the chance to play using the same setup as their idols – collaborating, rather emulating.”

Sadly, I do not have time for games. While my iPhone is filled with such favorites as Shift, Madden Football 2011, and the classic Wolfenstein, they rarely are even opened. Like Andy’s chest home to a collection of plastic and fabric that longs to be played just one more time in Toy Story 3, my Games folder cries to be tapped. Sudoku lives in the Puzzle Games folder (I even have multiple game folders to keep things in order I don’t use,) and now I will be able to finish that game in a hurry. Sure, I’ll need another iPhone or an Android phone to do it, but at least the game will be completed faster than a missile sinking a boat in Battleship within my Board Games folder. Using the new Google Goggles, you’ll be able to do a lot of stuff like look up similar articles from snapping a picture of a newspaper, or finding out information on a landmark before you, or just searching the web by clicking a photo of a dress. But just “because we can”, Google also has added the power of its algorithm to solving Sudoku games for you as well.

Download it from the Android Market Place or iTunes App Store today.

MyFord Mobile App

Ford has finally responded to GMs mobile application suite due to be available for every 2011 GM vehicle with MyFord Mobile. Like GMs offering, Ford owners will have access to unlock or lock their doors, checking the charging status of the batteries (if you have such items in your Ford,) and unlike GM, the addition of MapQuest giving you access to the nearest gas station. Unlike GM, Ford has decided to go the universal way and make the app a Web App to allow greater access among all devices. While I give Ford kudos for implementing HTML5 for its Web App (WAP 2.0 will also be available for dumb phones,) one only has to look at the iPhone as an example of how well that works. During its first year run, the iPhone with Web Apps barely made a blip on the handheld as many were frustrated with the slow displaying graphics and constant wait with each link tapped. Once Steve Jobs announced native applications for the iPhone, the developer community rejoiced and today we have the most successful app store and a new revolution in smartphones. GM went with the revolution and Ford went with frustration. That’s disappointing. Maybe it will make a change when countless calls of disgruntled users voice their mayhem or when it reads the marketing reports showing more consumers purchasing GMs because it had an iPhone app.

That said, enjoy the press release! :)

Eye-Fi Pro X2 8GB + Wi-Fi

Eye-Fi Inc. (www.eye.fi), makers of the world’s first wireless memory card, today announced Direct Mode at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Leveraging a combination of new technology in Eye-Fi cards and new Eye-Fi mobile apps, Direct Mode enables consumers to bring together the imaging quality of a digital camera and the connectivity of a smartphone or tablet in an unprecedented way. This innovative solution wirelessly connects the camera to the mobile device to provide a seamless experience between the moment a memory is captured and when consumers want to browse, edit, save and share their memories.

“For anyone who has ever had to choose between taking great images with their digital camera and theinstant gratification of sharing with a smartphone, Direct Mode is the answer,” said Jef Holove, CEO of Eye-Fi. “New technology in the card combined with a free Eye-Fi app on a mobile device means consumers no longer have to compromise between rich, lifelike memories and saving or sharing those memories from anywhere.”

With Direct Mode, photos taken with your digital camera can immediately be sent to your smartphone or tablet. They can be viewed, used with myriad apps on the device, or uploaded and shared.

In addition, photos and videos can automatically and wirelessly be backed up and organized in the consumer’s private Eye-Fi View account. From there, they are accessible for viewing and sharing from any Internet connected device – regardless of which camera they were taken with.

“We have a diversity of devices we use for different purposes,” continued Holove. “Digital cameras are just plain better at taking photos and videos, especially when lighting, action, or zoom distance affect the shot. But, there’s no doubt that the apps, touch interface and always-connected nature of mobile devices are compelling. With this new technology, we are bridging the gap between the camera and mobile, bringing the best of all the devices that we own to the capture andsharing of memories.”

Eye-Fi also extends the browsing and sharing experience by providing a seamless connected imaging experience through its own ecosystem of partners – from leading digital camera makers like Canon, Nikon and Sony to 45 popular photo sharing sites like Facebook, Flickr and Picasa. The result is millions of photos and videos being effortlessly shared from cameras each month.

Direct Mode will be available as a free upgrade to all Eye-Fi X2 cards later in 2011.

To see more, Eye-Fi will be demonstrating this new capability at CES at booth #3615 in the “Living in Digital Times” section of the North Hall.
