Walmart.com: (Email Delivery) Apple iTunes $50 eGift Cards: Gift Cards

I’m sure you’ve seen the iTunes gift cards at Costco or Sam’s Club for a few dollars off. Sam’s has them for $10 off if you purchase $100 of a four pack of $25. That’s a pretty good deal on any Apple product as the Designed in Cupertino company rarely discounts anything in its catalog. But Sam’s Club parent, Wal-mart, has just gone one better and for half the initial cost, you will get double the percentage off. For $40 you can nab yourself $50 in an email delivered iTunes gift certificate. That’s a 20% discount which I have yet to see anywhere else and it’s an instant purchase!

If you want to treat yourself or you’ve forgotten a present or just need a bonus gift, this Wal-mart $50 iTunes gift certificate for $40 with instant delivery is your ticket to a Merry Christmas!

Full-resolution high-definition 3D transmission via a premium TV service provider became a reality at this year’s 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show. Verizon and Panasonic, a leader in Full HD 3D technology, are streaming Full HD 3D, currently the highest-possible resolution of 3D video, via Verizon’s 100 percent fiber-optic FiOS TV service.

The first-of-its-kind demonstration (in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center Room S228) was made possible through a technical collaboration between the two companies, with content streaming over Verizon’s future-proof network to a Panasonic Blu-ray 3D player. Engineers from both companies worked closely to co-develop the required network, software and user-interface enhancements that make Full HD 3D possible over the bandwidth-rich FiOS service.

“We’re proud of our work with Verizon to develop this Full HD 3D streaming capability,” said EisukeTsuyuzaki, chief technology officer, Panasonic Corporation of North America. “Panasonic has always believed that the best way to view 3D is via a Full HD, 1080p resolution image, but until now the only option available has been on Blu-ray DiscTM media. Over Verizon’s high-bandwidth FiOS network, we’ve now shown that this kind of innovation can be accomplished by a premium television service like FiOS as well.”

Unlike some competing technologies, Full HD 3D transmissions preserve the complete 1080p picture resolution that consumers have come to expect from their HDTVs. Other solutions degrade the 3D image, typically reducing resolution by half. In a demonstration at the Verizon-sponsored Blogger Lounge, FiOS engineers showed a selection of 3D content streaming to a Panasonic Full HD Blu-ray 3D DiscTM player at a bit rate of up to 18 Mbps (megabits per second) — double the bit rate currently used by most cable providers.

Tony Melone, chief technology officer for Verizon, said, “Delivering full-resolution 3D content is a natural fit for Verizon’s FiOS network. Built with the future in mind, FiOS was designed with the bandwidth headroom to grow along with consumer demand for the latest technologies. Verizon continues to deliver the future of TV and is once again redefining the consumer’s at home-entertainment experience.”

Last year, Verizon televised the first National Football League game in 3D, the New York Giants versus the New England Patriots, as well as the first Major League Baseball games in 3D, between the New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners.

Verizon continues to drive the future of TV, with more than 140 HD channels and next-generation interactive services like social networking, DVR management via broadband or mobile phone, and an interactive media guide.

If you’re curious what all the “4G” LTE news coming out of Verizon’s camp at CES in Vegas is about, take a view of this short video just released by Verizon. While full of marketing it does at minimum give you an idea and glimpse of what is coming.

ViewMedia-2

From the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Sling Media, Inc., today announced a subscription offering that will soon be available on select 4G smartphones on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.

Sling Media has created a subscription service offering that gives Verizon Wireless customers the ability to watch their home TV on new 4G smartphones. The subscription service provides a Slingbox®, the SlingPlayer™ application and networking accessories.

“With significantly increased speeds and reduced latency, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network provides an ideal environment for a fantastic Sling viewing experience with great video quality,” said John Gilmore, senior vice president and general manager at Sling Media. “Sling’s subscription offering is a new, easy way for consumers to start enjoying their home TV wirelessly, with one monthly bill from Verizon and without a long term contract for the Sling app.”

With a Slingbox at home and a Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband connection, the award-winning SlingPlayer application gives users the ability to watch live sports, catch up on the news or enjoy movies on their smartphones. Users can enjoy their TV while having their oil changed, waiting for a flight or taking a study break. Verizon Wireless customers will be able to sign up for the offer through V CAST Apps, Verizon Wireless’ mobile storefront, beginning later this year.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched in December 2010, is the fastest, most advanced 4G network in the United States, providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless’ existing 3G network. Consumer devices with a wide range of applications are expected to be available later this year. Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network currently reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to the company’s entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.

More details about the Verizon Wireless and SlingPlayer offering will be available during CES in Verizon Wireless’ booth (#35216 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center) and at the Sling Media booth (#9014 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center). Withings Reinvents the Traditional Baby Monitor with the Release of its Smart Baby Monitor

Using a baby monitor is paramount when having a baby, which is why Withings is proud of its release of the Smart Baby Monitor. Developed with both technology and design in mind, Withings has produced a device that not only looks stunning, but also gives parents important information on their child’s environment and allows them to interact with their child remotely and easily.

Cédric Hutchings, co-founder of Withings says: “We’ve already established the most seamless interface with smartphones such as the iPhone, so transitioning this technology to other devices is ideal for us. The old-school classical baby monitor with its redundant receiver could not stay away from an unavoidable move to the Internet of Things. That is why Withings revisited it and created an object in line with our current time.”

Unlike traditional monitors, the Withings Smart Baby Monitor was made for iPhone users in mind. It does not consist of two physical objects (the camera and the receiver), however it’s a smart sensor (camera) alone that can communicate with any existing connected screen (iPhone, iPad, Smartphone, PC, Mac, tablet, eBook reader, LCDTV, etc.).

The Smart Baby Monitor features a high-resolution 3MP camera, extra wide view lens and night vision with infrared LEDs. The Smart baby Monitor can detect any event in the room without being moved.

The smart sensor gives parents access to a multitude of information, including audio/video (day & night vision) and ambient parameters (temperature & humidity) remotely from anywhere in the world.

The Smart Baby Monitor is also equipped with a microphone that allows parents to interact and sooth their child even when they are not physically in the room. Another feature allows parents to control the music (lullabies) that plays in the room through the monitor and can change songs or play-lists right from the living room, the office or from anywhere in the world. Alarms may also be set to alert parents of baby sleep disruption based on parameters such as activity/movement, audio levels and temperature/humidity. These alarms are completely customizable by the user.

Connectivity is made easy for users so the user never has to get anxious with configuring his product. The Withings Smart Baby Monitor will adapt itself to the best network path, be it local with Bluetooth, WiFi or wire.

The design of the product is sleek, modern, simple and unobtrusive. The monitor’s hinge design allows parent to open the camera to activate it or adapt it to the vision angle. People simply flip the camera shut to turn it off and stop camera monitoring. The camera is then protected for transportation.

Because the Smart Baby Monitor is a communicant product, it will be enhanced with additional services made by Withings and third parties.

Smart Baby Monitor received two awards from Observeur du Design 2011 and two awards during the Consumer Electronics Show 2011. The Withings Smart Baby Monitor will be available in late March 2011.

ivi.tv brings tv to your mac, pc, or linux

ivi TV, the online cable system, announced today that it has added Chicago to its Seattle, New York, and Los Angeles broadcast channel offerings. The addition of 12 channels from the Chicago market brings the total number of OTA (over-the-air) channels available on ivi TV to an impressive 65, excluding international offerings ranging from Sport Italia to English-language news from China on CCTV9, among others.

ivi TV offers more content than Hulu and the ability to legally watch live major broadcast channels anywhere there’s an Internet connection, including hit shows and popular sports programming from ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, The CW, PBS, and others from a growing number of local affiliates, all available from a downloadable app at ivi TV.

“ivi TV continues to scale and rapidly roll-out new markets and deliver to new devices because we don’t have to send a truck out to drill holes in consumers’ homes and install clunky set top boxes,” said Todd Weaver, founder and CEO of ivi TV. “Instead, ivi TV is a sustainable offering that is quickly and easily downloaded, available to instantly start streaming favorite TV programming in seconds.”

Consumers who live in other parts of the country can watch live local programming from their hometown or favorite city. People with no conventional cable access or left adrift by the shift to DTV can watch TV with ivi. As ivi TV rolls out new markets, the channels it includes from each respective market are available to all ivi TV subscribers, regardless of where they presently reside within the US.

As consumers increasingly “cut the cord” and seek more innovative and affordable alternatives to expensive traditional cable TV, ivi TV’s ever-expanding service creates a sense of inevitability about its future.

“It’s a little poetic that our next market to include is Philadelphia, Comcast’s hometown. Despite spending millions of dollars lobbying DC in hopes to merge with NBC Universal, the proposed merger is increasingly being questioned and was just labeled as ‘detrimental’ for its impact on consumers and competition by Senate Commerce Chairman Jay Rockefeller, who is singularly the most powerful voice in Congress on telecom policy. Last week, ivi met with Rockefeller’s office, and many other lawmakers, in addition to the FCC to voice our concern about Comcast’s anti-competitive behavior in the marketplace. If the merger is approved, the FCC must include enforceable measures to prevent Comcast from monopolizing the content marketplace, limiting access to content for its on-line competitors, and further extorting consumers,” added Weaver.
