Michaela Update from Liz

Here’s an update from Liz on Michaela. She spoke to Rebecca around 15:00 today.

I just got off the phone with Rebecca and it looks like she has a gastro viral infection. Her temp is 103.1 now which I believe is lower. Since last night she had been able to take her medication orally, but she just threw up a few minutes ago so I don’t know if that will continue. They really want to keep her overnight again, but Michaela has mentioned several times that she is ready to come home. Everyone at home misses her and their Ma and Pa too.

Please be praying for Michaela that the Lord would heal her and she would be able to come home soon. Please be praying for Faith that the Lord would heal her and that Sarah wouldn’t catch this. Please be praying for Tom and Rebecca that they would know what is the best thing for Michaela and that the Lord would give them peace. Also that they would not get sick. Please be praying for Auntie Dale that she would be able to keep Faith and Sarah entertained and happy as long as she needs to and that she wouldn’t get sick. Please be praying for our family as well that we would be able to serve them and that Sven and Joshua wouldn’t get sick.

Thank you all,
Liz

Killer Flu Strikes Another Victim

Last night, Auntie Dale and Jon picked up Faith and Sarah from the doctors so Rebecca and Tom could go straight to the hospital with Michaela. Jon and Dale tended to the kids needs until Tom came home later that night.

I just went over to see how Dale and the girls are doing today and asked if she has talked to Jon. She said that she did and he’s been throwing up all day and is in bed sleeping. Yikes, he got it in one day! Or maybe it’s just coincidence, but either way, this stomach flu is killing people FAAAAAST!

The Latest on Michaela

I spoke to Rebecca early this morning and just have this quick moment to brief you all of what’s going on.

Michaela drank some fluid orally and kept it down. She then even had some milk and kept that down, too. So, they’re very comforted by that; however, she has a 103° temperature. The nurses believe she may have an infection and they took some blood (ouch!) to run some tests. If the tests come back with an infection they can treat with antibiotics that they can administrate outside of hospital care, they’ll send her home. So, there’s a change of discharge today.

Rebecca was so thankful to our Lord for blessing Michaela with a farm scene in her room. Out of all rooms, she got that one! She also has three balloons at the front of her bed and her spirits are pretty good considering her condition and her environment. Rebecca was able to stay the night with her and is her personal nurse as the staff is very busy. Motherly love is the best care she could get right now, anyway. :)

Tom is probably there now and I’ll try to get more information out as I get it. Thank you all for your prayers and I hope to report even more good news later!

I spoke to Tom a while ago and got the update on Michaela.

She stayed over night in the hospital and Rebecca stayed with her. She had a fever through the night and was on an IV the entire time. The hospital does not want to release her until she can drink fluids, hold them down, and then urinate them out on her own. So, that’s the big thing for her to try today. She did go number one this morning which is a good first step, though she’s still on an IV.

Tom is on his way back up to the hospital to join Rebecca and hopefully they’ll all come home together today. Be praying for that to happen.

Liz is still sick, though no throw ups. Katelyn and Joshua seem out of the woods and pretty much fine, now. I had a queasy stomach, again, this morning, but after some breakfast, I feel better. It’s now up to Starbucks to wake me up. :)
