Ever thought lazily from your couch while watching the Pittsburgh Steelers kickin’ bootay on some poor AFC playoff team, “Man, I wish I could open the door from here without getting up.” I’m sure you’ve got a cell phone, lazy-bones. All you need is two bottles of water and a Lego Mindstorm motor and you’re on your way to making that reality! zerocool60544 has posted the whole nine yards of instructions and code needed to make this happen. Heck, there’s even pictures, BIG pictures showing how it’s all done. So if you’re looking for an easy way out to get someone in, check out the hack and get cracking.

And The Press Ways In

Okay, the last post for Super Bowl-Bound Steelers Sunday. I just couldn’t resist.

Turnovers will kill a team every time, and Denver was no exception. Jake Plummer had eight turnovers all season. In this game, he had four.

But that is not an excuse on behalf of Denver. Quite simply, Pittsburgh was the better team. Pretty plain and simple, isn’t it?

Let the nay-sayers (”Bengals Colts Broncos are the best and going to win”) read this carefully:

And if there still were any doubters out there (yes, my hand is raised), the Steelers made them believers (yes, my hand is still raised) with their 34-17 victory over the second-seeded Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.

I like this one: They didn’t simply beat the Broncos. They owned them.

The one that touches my heart. The one the team has all year said it would do for Bettis and has proven it. Now just one more win to make it true.

On the eve of the AFC title game, Bettis made an impassioned plea to Roethlisberger and the rest of his Steeler teammates to help him finish his career in style, by allowing play what would likely be his last game with the chance to win his first Super Bowl ring … and in his hometown of Detroit, no less.

“Get me home,” he told them. “The Super Bowl’s in Detroit … get me home.”

Does it get any more perfect than “The Bus” riding off into the sunset in his hometown?

Actually, it does.

And lastly, what I’ve been saying since mid-season. Any AFC team is going to beat the best NFC team. Former Bronco’s Shannon Sharpe agrees:

The NFC has taken a backseat to the AFC all season. I said before the playoffs started that any one of the six AFC teams would beat any one of the six NFC teams. And now that the sixth seed in the AFC is going to face the top seed in the NFC, my point will be proved correct — finally.

Why Chose?

You know, it’s tough to chose when you’re so emotionally involved, so I just say, “Give both to me!” So the Steelers are FedEx’ing both of these shirts to me so I can wear them and never take ‘em off until Super Bowl Sunday. Ya, I’ll smell but at least it’ll be worth that one for the thumb! :)

Check out all the sweet Champs swag and get yours now.

One for the Thumb!!

The AFC Champions the Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing The Bus home to the Motor City! For the first time in NFL history, a wild card team has defeated the number three, number two, and number one seed in the play-offs! Who do you think is going to win the Super Bowl against the weaker NFC? Do you have any doubt from the team that defeated “the best team in the NFL” (Colts,) and defeated what was suppose to be a close game by twice their opponents score? I have none. Bring it on. One for the thumb!!

Update: BTW, good luck trying to order your AFC Champ’s shirt at Steelers.com. The site is getting hammered like the Broncos offense right now. :)

Update 2: The site has just put up a number for you to call. But I’ve been letting it ring for over a minute now (not even a recording comes on) and it’s still ringing. But, give it a try and call 1-800-Team-Tuf (1-800-832-6883).

Wait, got a recording. They’re open ’til 5 PM (no EST or PST.) Well, I’m on hold listening to “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. Maybe I’ll get someone…

Will it be the technology of the game or just pure brute force of steel pounding against ponies win the AFC Championship for the Steelers today? I figure a little of both and my hopes are that I’ll be one happy camper in about eight hours. :)

Go Steelers!

On My Way to CES

Sure, most of the press has been at CES all week, but hey, I have a day job, too. :)

I’m on the way to Vegas and will be there just for the day. I have a couple of meetings that I hope to come out of with some great news and bits for you. I’ll be working the floor to gather more contacts that hopefully will translate into some great future reviews and breaking news.

Man, I love Southwest. I’m not even near the airport yet and already have my boarding pass for Section A to and from Vegas! Ain’t the Internet a great tool? :)

Fleshed Out Three Sections

Okay, got the Contact, Advertise, and Testimony sections done. I was going to put the old Svenrox About in but opted to yank it and write a completely new About section that pertains just to this site. Once I build out my personal site, I’ll use Svenrox’s about there.

So I need to finish the About and Games section and then maybe the Accident page. Still haven’t figured out if I want that on the personal site only or here as well.

Oh ya, RSS feeds and such. Ugh, keep forget that. It’ll come… (If you’re using the Svenrox feeds, those still work. Just change svenrox.com to svenontech.com as I’ll be dumping svenrox.com next year. You know, if you don’t do it now, you’ll never do it all.)

CSS Problems (sans one) Fixed

Author: Sven Rafferty
Sunday, January 1, 2006

I spent nearly three hours working on the CSS issue on the Mac browsers and got them fixed. I was going to flesh out the rest of the site but felt it more important to fix this nagging eye strain instead. Guess I lied to you, Bob.

I tell you, the fix for category icons was an amazing feat of frustration. Once I had it figured out in IE (Windows) it was totally messed up (worse then before) in Firefox (all platforms.) So I worked on the Firefox (all platforms) fix and then the Windows one fell into mold, too.

I tell you, to get those icons to show up on the same “line” as the title and post details was like a major pain. CSS kept wanting to move it down on it’s own line. I finally gave up on the float and went with absolute positioning. That worked…until I had more then one icon. CSS pros know that they just ended up stacking on top of each other. So, I thought outside of the box and added another one. A box. I put that box as the absolute position and then the icons box inside that and BINGO it worked.

So now that’s done, I need to fix the lame roll-over link issue in the TOC. For some reason, the visited link is white and should be the blue. It’s not obeying the CSS command. I guess that’s my next three hours to burn but only after the rest of the site is fleshed. The v.link thing isn’t that big of a deal.

Straight Up Wiiiiindy!

Now I’ve never been to Chicago, but man, today it felt like I lived in it. The wind was kickin’ as high as 40 MPH and blowing everything from flags off of poles to tumble weed over the freeway. On the way home, I saw our main strip into our neighborhood dotted with tumble weed through out, causing drivers to dart around them as if they were in the military and on maneuvers. I had to go home and get my camera and come back to snap some photos of the troops in action.

I also went hunting for tumble weed to bring back up for our backyard. Ouch, they’ve got might sharp thorns on them! Mind you not, though, I found one big enough that it happily filled up the cargo area of our Yukon. The kids loved it and when I threw on the icing on the cake — driving like a mad man in a big, BIG, mud puddle — they laughed uncontrollably as Katelyn gleefully shouted, “Look at all the mud on my window!” That’s my girl. :)

svenontech.com Live

Hey, just checked svenontech.com and it resolves. Guess registering your domain at 12:01 a.m. does show up the same day. :) There may be ISP’s that still don’t have the new domain name in its servers, so if you get a 404, wait a day or just keep using svenrox.com. Only problem is if you click on the comment links, it’ll resolve to the new domain. But I figure if Comcast is resolving already, the majority of the other ISP’s should be, too.

BTW, I keep typing svenrontech.com which of course has been causing me problems. Don’t do the same. :)
