In a very political attempt to shore up a foundation for their run next year, Democrats are all over the media with the “Bush Lied” story in hopes of brain washing the American people. Since it has been over six years since Clinton was in office, I guess it’s easy to forget his comments and actions on the the same inteligence (which he passed to the Bush Administration) in 1998. Fortunately, we have Google and it has a better memory then most of those who believe Bush lied.
I heard Ms. Pelosi on Neil Cavota yesterday and every time he asked her point blank if Bush lied or if the intelligence she got was not the same as Bushes, she side stepped the question. Classic politian! You could tell Neil was getting tired of her doing this and at the end of the interview told her how he respected her and all but she just needed to answer the question…which she avoided again.
This is the game the dem’s are playing in hopes of capturing more seats next year. I understand the game because Repbulican’s play it, too. But what nerves me is how quickly the public has fallen for this latest game. Thankfully Google can show us what the media said when their poster boy ruled the nation since they refuse to do so now. Thankfully it’s still early and the campaigns haven’t even started and as we’re seeing here, most have short term memories and this will probably blow over in a few months, too. But these last few months of political excersise and the nations failing grade is concerning me enough to think we should bring back the landowners-only voters back.
After Ted Kennedy’s resounding speech on how GW “lied us into war” with Iraq, it seems ironic and sadly funny who he and his party spoke of WMD’s and so forth when their leader, Bill Clinton, was in office speaking of the same things. Now don’t count on the media to remind us of these facts, just blogs such as this one.
Bill Clinton: “If Saddam rejects peace, and we have to use force, our purpose is clear: We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
Madeleine Albright, Clinton Secretary of State: “We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and the security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction.”
Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Advisor and Classified Document Thief: “[Saddam will] use those weapons of mass destruction again as he has ten times since 1983.”
Harry Reid: “The problem is not nuclear testing; it is nuclear weapons. … The number of Third World countries with nuclear capabilities seems to grow daily. Saddam Hussein’s near success with developing a nuclear weapon should be an eye-opener for us all.”
Dick Durbin: “One of the most compelling threats we in this country face today is the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Threat assessments regularly warn us of the possibility that…Iraq…may acquire or develop nuclear weapons.”
John Kerry: “If you don’t believe…Saddam Hussein is a threat with nuclear weapons, then you shouldn’t vote for me.”
John Edwards: “Serving on the Intelligence Committee and seeing day after day, week after week, briefings on Saddam’s weapons of mass destruction and his plans on using those weapons, he cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons, it’s just that simple. The whole world changes if Saddam ever has nuclear weapons.”
Nancy Pelosi: “Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology, which is a threat to countries in the region, and he has made a mockery of the weapons-inspection process.”
Not to take any of these out of context, I urge you to read Snops article in which these quotes are shown in full context. Granted, most of them are not pushing war — and this isn’t my point — but all do show there awareness to intelligence stating there was WMD activity in Iraq from the CLINTON ADMINISTRATION. So, did Clinton lie to us, too?
Clinton did nothing for eight years and after 9/11 Bush seemed pushed to react to all of this intelligence. I am convinced that there would have been pressure on Clinton to do something if he had been in office during 9/11. That cold day in September changed the play book and to say Bush lied us into war is hypocritical of these Senators and Representatives that spoke with firmness and no doubt in the above quotes when Clinton was our nations Commander-in-Chief.
You know, I must say the citizens of California are comical at best when it comes to their majority for voting. To vote down a state budget cap and yet in the same breath speak of Bush’s deficit is quite funny. “Do as I preach, not as I do,” I guess. I know most will take any opportunity they can to shoot down President Bush that they can, but one would think some consistency would be applied to such a vocal and hot left topic such as fiscal responsibility. Guess not.
Wow, I am stunned that the majority of Californian’s find it fine that a minor can have a surgical procedure without notifying their parents of this procedure first. In a state where a school nurse can’t even issue an aspirin for a headache to a Junior in high school, we can now allow an Eighth grader to suck out a life from her womb. Incredible.
And on the other side of murder, San Franciscans voted to ban all hand guns within the city limits. All owners will have to turn in their guns by April if this gets past the NRA’s legal battle. So now only the gangs will have guns and no one will be able to protect themselves after a major disaster such as we saw in New Orleans. But if that’s what the radical left want in their fare city, then write this off as “clean up” I guess. Sad.
California doesn’t need “The Big One” to shove us into the ocean, we’re already sliding politically into the Pacific. I am so stunned that people feel it is fine for a minor, a child, to get an abortion without letting their parents know. I know the lame argument, “What if it was incest?” Come on, how often does that happen? Of all the girls I knew in high school that got abortions, not ONE was due to incest. All was due to “birth control” reasons.
It’s sick to see people say they want to protect life with stupid laws like San Francisco’s hand gun ban and then at the same stroke of the pen vote no against parent notification for abortions. In this sue-happy nation, I can see Planned Parenthood having some more court cases to defend when unhappy parents take them to court for complications from a procedure they where not made aware of.
Amazing, minors can’t vote, can’t drink, can’t serve in the military but can kill babies without telling mommy and daddy. Yes, Texas IS looking better now. Pathetic!
Surprise, surprise, Planned Parenthood isn’t too happy with Bush’s nomination for the next Supreme Court Justice. Nope, they in fact use some harsh words to describe their dismay such as “outrageous’ and “radically”. Their press release goes on to state, “Judge Alito would undermine basic reproductive rights, and Planned Parenthood will oppose his confirmation.” To drive their point of disdain further, “His confirmation would radically transform the Supreme Court and create a direct threat to the health and safety of American women.”
Planned Parenthood is concerned with health? Really? Then why would they kill babies? That’s not too healthy for the unborn child, is it? If this abortion provider was so concerned about the womans health, I think they would be advising those of the procedure that they are about to endure will have monumental psychological effects as well as the future complications of giving birth, if the woman chooses to, that is. But the oxymoron named Planned Parenthood does not reveal any of these basics to the mother that is about to suck a life out of existence. Health. Right.
Oddly enough, too, my searches of their archives could find nothing in opposition to Ginsberg’s nomination and she was a well known “hardliner” as they finger Alito as. Huh, wonder why? Ooooh ya, ’cause she believes killing babies is fine, too, just like Planned Parenthood!
I’ve never been a fan of this organization and their out cry against Alito proves that he is the right choice. They got Ginsberg so let us balance out the bench with Bush’s nomination. But if we want to go with what Feinstein kept reminding us about in earlier confirmations, this is about the law, not beliefs. So let’s look at his understanding of our great document that defines that very law the California Senator so desires to uphold. Right?
In a bizarre twist of support, the homosexuals of Texas are getting some support for the same-sex marriage amendment from one of the oldest organized groups of American history that has included the likes of Senate members, the Klu Klux Klan. Yup, they’re coming to Houston to march for the cause. How sweet, huh?
The Ku Klux Klan plans to rally in Austin to support the gay marriage amendment set for the Nov. 8 ballot.
The rally planned on the steps of city hall the Saturday before the election will urge voters to favor proposition 2. [Source]
Here’s an interesting post from SoCalPundit (know him TOS?) that makes you see how both sides can get heated in their belief. This time it was peace activist (I’m not saying the other side doesn’t get hot and bothered, either) that is comical in a way since they are pro-peace and using violent terms seems contrary to their agenda. I’ll stop short of calling this hypocrisy, but it’s close.
I’ll let you read the not on SoCalPundit’s site, but what I will post is his what the daughter, catching a glimpse of the note, said. It kind of puts this battle into a perspective I think we’ve all forgot.
I found this under my windshield wiper when I came out of the store. It was hard to miss with the big block writing in bright red ink. Worse than that, my daughter was able to read it over my shoulder before I could rip it from her sight. In a horrified tone, she asked, “Mom, why would someone write a dirty word like that to you? What did you do to them?” “They didn’t like my bumper sticker, I guess.”,
In an interesting tid-bit of striving for “equality amount all races”, the Black Caucus has barred a white law maker from joining their “club”.
A white lawmaker in Tennessee has been barred from becoming a member of the state’s Black Caucus. State representative Stacey Campfield says he attempted to join the black political group in order to better serve the large minority constituency in his precinct. However, the Knoxville Republican says a leader of the Black Caucus told him that, because he is not black, he cannot become a full member or even obtain a copy of the group’s bylaws without a court order or an attorney general’s opinion. [Source]
Since the Black Caucus has always been very vocal and critical of other racial issues, I find it extremely interesting that they would take this route. What does this say to America? “We want blacks to have the same thing as whites, but not letting whites have the same things as us.”
Now to be fair to the Caucus, Campfield, the congressman attempting membership, has a questionable motive. He has said less then flattering things in the past and may have ties to the KKK. If all this is so, then I think the Black Caucus needs to be forthcoming on these details and have solid proof of them. Then deny membership on those charges, not his skin color. If they can pull that off, then I would fully back them on this. If they can’t prove it, then it’s all hearsay and another avenue, such as acceptance, needs to be walked down.
The teachers union — you know the ones that force you to pay for Democrat campaign contributions regardless of what you wish — is now so under water that they may lose it all. Like a crack addict willing to sell their child for just one more rock, the California Teachers Association has sold off the farm in it’s attempts to kill reforms that would encourage having better teachers and less sluggard fat on board. So is it of any surprise that the very fat, not wishing to lose their cush’ jobs, has bankrupted their union? Surprise, surprise!
A sworn affidavit from the California Teachers Association (CTA) reveals the union is heavily financially leveraged and had already spent, as of 9/30/05, every penny of the $50 million it raised to fight Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s reforms. The document also reveals that the union is attempting to secure an additional $40 million line of credit, on top of at least $34 million in existing loans. The document states that failure to obtain this loan would result in “great financial harm” for the union. [Source]
I have always found it interesting when watching the anti-Iraq war protesters that their message is really that of selfishness and separatism. They don’t think of the hundreds and thousands losing their lives where the war is being fought and don’t think about how we do live in an international setting and the seas that create the great gap between us and others no longer matters. I can understand the desire not to wage war and save our solders lives, but at the expense of other innocent people? Children and mothers? That was done in the late ’30s by Europe and this country and look what horrid things happened in Germany by Hitler. Man, you don’t have to live the mistake to learn from it, people.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the LA Times had an interesting article on their site called Peace Is Not the Answer. William Shawcross asks some great questions of which you never hear on the greater media or people like Cindy-the-puppet asking. In brief, he writes:
IT SEEMS UNLIKELY that many of the so-called peace marchers who trooped through Washington and London two weekends back listened on Thursday — at least not with an open mind or sympathy — to George Bush’s cogent explanation of why coalition troops are fighting and dying in Iraq.
You did not see in those demonstrations, after all, many banners reading, “Support Iraq’s New Constitution,” “No to Jihad” or “Stop Suicide Bombers.” The crimes committed daily against the Iraqi people by other Arabs who wish to re-enslave them seem to be of little interest to Michael Moore, Jane Fonda and their followers. Rage against the daily assaults on children, women, anyone, by Islamo-fascists and ordinary national fascists is not fashionable. Only alleged American crimes are cool to decry.
No matter what you think about the war and why we’re there, the fact is, we are there. If we leave now, things will only become worse and I mean way worse. More children and adults will be not killed, but slaughtered. If Cindy really cares about Casey — whom signed up for a second time in the Armed Forces — then she’d know it’s not about him but about them. If we can care about animals with Green Peace and PETA, how can we not care about human beings?
I encourage you to read this excellent commentary that I believe sums up this whole effort perfectly. If you still don’t understand the reason we can’t leave, then include “Yes to Jihad!” in your next anti-war protest…you’re only helping their cause.
