Oops, SF Chronicle Gets Busted

Author: Sven Rafferty

Looks like the liberal biased San Francisco Chronicle has been caught red-handed lying. Stating they had a picture of a student protesting the Iraq war in San Francisco, it was actually a rally for the Communist party! Wow, how funny is that?! Of course the Chronicle is now backing off their original work of fiction, but that won’t stop all the people who believe their tales to be gospel from reading it.

Read the entire story — true story — from Anatomy of a Photograph’s site. But we warned, when they show you the entire photograph, some things in it aren’t pretty and are not for children’s viewing. Hey, it’s all about peace, right?! ;)

I guess one major had a plan utilizing school buses to evacuate in case of a hurricane and another actually utilized his buses. While I haven’t heard Nagin specifically blame anyone for their problem — by name — I have seen how he did NOT follow through his own game plan and not take responsibility for it. On the other hand, two weeks later another hurricane comes rolling in and low and behold, another major steps up to the plate and saves his town. Not a single death. Same situation, same tools, different results. Interesting, no? :)

Today as John Roberts was sworn in as the 17th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, many Democrats on the Hill were already vocally yelling war calls for Bush’s next Supreme Court nomination. While Democrats have been pushing their media campaign of “for the people”, it strikes me odd how one could already state they would give the President a tougher fight in the next round having no idea who he’d pick! Just another shot of politics for the Democrats grasping at some kind of control-straw since they have no majority anywhere anymore. Hence the reason Tom Delay has been accused of something that not a single lawyer in the land can say what Delay is being accused of.

I think the Democrats publicly voicing their rebellious is a sad commentary to what has happened to our political system. I’m sure our founding fathers understood there would be disagreements and this is why we have such an awesome political structure. However, some Democrats no longer seem to care about that or care about the peoples will. They only seem to care about their own personal agenda as proven by Feinstein’s comments today:

“My belief is that you should be open in public about your views. I couldn’t penetrate to the extent that I could feel comfortable, knowing the things I care deeply about, that I ran for the Senate for, will be protected.” [Source]

Sadly the Senior Senator from California doesn’t realize a lawmakers job differs from the one that interrupts the law. Your views aren’t the base test, but your understanding of the Constitution and laws that live under it. That’s what matters and thus the reason ultimately why Roberts won, because he understand the Constitution.

Out of curiosity, I wonder why Feinstein made little mention of the importance of “views” when Ginsburg was being questions and why Feinstein disallowed any out-cry from the Republican’s then. Oh yes, it’s always been politics with her. :)

Since Bush is getting blamed for the actual hurricanes we are experiencing, I thought it quite interesting to find an article on NASA’s site showing a major change in Mars climate. Since what is happening, the reduction of it’s polar region, is similar to what is happening here on Earth and Bush is being blamed for that via Global Warming, it must mean then that Mars is experiencing their warming for the same reasons. All that car exhaust, factory pollutants, and all those other really bad non-eco-friendly devices we all love to use. Further, since many blame Bush’s eco-policies of the last three years on our problems, they seemingly have effected Mars, too! It’s absolute amazing, look:

…for three Mars summers in a row, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near Mars’ south pole have shrunk from the previous year’s size, suggesting a climate change in progress.

I guess the media, some Democrats, and The Other Sven have been right all this time. It IS Bush’s fault. We’re seeing the exact same thing happening now on different planets! Man, the dude is spreading the problem!! What are we going to do?! Or maybe we finally have an example that Global Warming is not causes so much by man, as many have suggested, as other scientists have been saying for some time. Maybe, just maybe, the planet actually has more to do with it then we do!

Now hold on, I’m not saying that we don’t have responsibility. I need to make that clear. This is not an open ticket to trash our planet. I believe we should strive to make our air and water clean and do what we can. But, I do also believe that many of been extreme on this Global Warming problem and an example of that would be those blaming Bush for the heightened hurricane season. It’s great to finally have another model where man isn’t and see similar climate results.

While everyone down here in the States continue to listen to Democrats such as William Jefferson Clinton give erroneous testimony on what Bush did wrong, it seems there are people in Canada with more sense then our own natives here in the great land of liberal basis. Liz found this refreshing post on the aftermath of Katrina. David Warren, of the Ottawa Citizen, nails it when he says,

If something happened up here, on the scale of Katrina, we wouldn’t even have the resources to arrive late. We would be waiting for the Americans to come save us, the same way the government in Louisiana just waved and pointed at Washington, D.C. The theory being that, when you’re in real trouble, that’s where the adults live.

While most of this nations media goes around and blames Bush for everything and neglects to see the fact that major Nagin was the one that neglected a whole lot more, it takes a reporter from Canada to point this out. Oddly enough, you can’t find this article on Ottawa Citizen’s web site, though Google’s cache proves it’s existence. Fortunate for us, TamWill’s site has the entire article for you to read and you get more choice quotes like,

From Democrats and the American Left — the U.S. equivalent to the people who run Canada — we are still hearing that the disaster in New Orleans showed that a heartless, white Republican America had abandoned its underclass.

This is garbage. The great majority of those not evacuated lived in assisted housing and receive food stamps, prescription medicine and government support through many other programs. Many have, all their lives, expected someone to lift them to safety, without input from themselves. And the demagogic mayor they elected left, quite literally, hundreds of transit and school buses that could have driven them out of town parked in rows, to be lost in the flood.

This coming from Canada? Huh? I can’t believe my eyes. Is there hope for our nations media, then? I doubt it, but all the points Warren make are completely true and on the marker. I don’t want to get into the sticky points of those on entitlements, but Republican’s are just as generous as Democrat’s and I think that has been squished from thinking by the media. I also want to emphasize the empty school buses that Howard Dean thinks (by his comments on The View) are not controlled by the City. He really needs to shore up on his civil powers knowledge (Howard: the City owns the school districts, buddy!)

I want to highlight one more point that our Canadian friend knows better then our very own American media, and that’s nation disaster response.

Consult any authoritative source on how government works in the United States and you will learn that the U.S. federal government’s legal, constitutional, and institutional responsibility for first response to Katrina, as to any natural disaster, was zero.

So to all those who can’t remember the three branches of the federal government, how the State’s form our Union of the federal government, and forgot about all that “State’s rights” stuff from U.S. History class, then remember that last quote. G.W. may have done some things wrong, but it wasn’t all his fault like so many are saying and if anything, it could have been a lot worse if he hadn’t done what he did do. Stop with the Bush-bashing and get on with the “take responsibility” problem this country has so developed in the last couple of decades.

Pledge to Keep Our Pledge

Since our liberal circuit court decided to ban the Pledge of Allegiance in our classrooms this week, I would urge you to write your Senator and S.1046 passed to protect our nations heritage and patriotism. I can’t think of one nation that stayed strong and mighty without a vocal pledge by it’s members. United we stand, divided by the courts we fall.

Here’s what I wrote Boxer and Feinstein.

I know you do not believe in patriotism or unity of our country, as your voting history indicates this, but since 9 out of 10 people believe in our Pledge of Allegiance, I demand you as an employee of the people to vote yes on the Pledge Protection Act of 2005 – S.1046.

As a proud American who took citizenship in 1989 in a sun filled room in San Jose, I was glad to recite that pledge that day for the first time as a citizen. I believe the majority of my fellow American’s agree and I would hope that you hear their voice and not yours.

For the past week, all the public has heard is the blame-game going on about what happened in New Orleans. We’ve all heard the points and what the other guy did wrong, but I ask what about Major Ray Nagin himself? Well, take a look at what he wrote for the citizens of New Orleans seven months ago:

The safety and well-being of the citizens of New Orleans is my greatest priority. For this reason, our Office of Emergency Preparedness has prepared this Guide to help individuals during times of natural or man-made disaster. The information contained is designed to help everyone deal with these emergencies in an effective and successful manner. Knowledge is power and knowing what to do during an emergency can be lifesaving. [Source]

Ouch, I guess since nearly 10,000 people stayed behind ignoring a mandatory evacuation or the ones that didn’t ignore but just couldn’t get out, there really wasn’t much knowledge happening down their in the party city, huh? I only call it the party city quoting the major himself from a news conference on Tuesday. What strikes me about the majors open letter is that he claims that, “The safety and well-being of the citizens of New Orleans is my greatest priority,” when in fact it took a phone call from President Bush on Saturday evening pressuring Nagin to evacuate the city right then and there. When Nagin did announce New Orleans first mandatory evacuation in history, he neglected to follow his own guidelines:

During the Recommended Phase of Evacuation:

1)The City of New Orleans Emergency Operating Center (EOC) is staffed for 24-hour operation.
2)Local transportation will be mobilized to assist persons who lack transportation.
3)Bus routes and locations of staging areas for those needing transportation to shelters in or out of the Parish, will be announced via radio and television.
4)Relatives and neighbors should help family and friends who need transportation and other assistance.

There’s all this talk about what everyone else didn’t do, all the way up to the highest office, but the guy actually running the town ignored his very own emergency plan. There was no transportation, no 24 hour emergancy staffing, and and no bus routes (though we heard about them!) Heck, they emphasize the plan so much that they double printed the instructions!

So, why doesn’t Nagin step up to the plate and just admit his responsibility? I’m not saying others where not at fault but I am saying that New Orleans is HIS city and thus the pre-hurricane preparation was HIS responsibility. Because of his poor implementation and choice to ignore his own plan, his city was left with a floating morgue that could have been minimized if not completely prevented.

God Removes Rehnquist from the Bench

Author: Sven Rafferty

After months of battling cancer, Chief Judge Rehnquist died last night preventing him to start another season on the Supreme Court bench as he had told reporters he would do after leaving the hospital just two months ago. Now that the battle for O’Conner’s seat wages on, a new one that will surely be even nastier and bloodier is to ensue in the weeks before us. It is my feeling that Bush has had two or maybe three justices he would like to see on the court and Rehnquist’s replacement will most likely be coming within the week.

You know, I know I’m going to go out on a limb here by even suggesting this but since it’s not coming up in the media and everyone is too busy with the amazing devastation of Katrina, I’m going to say it: those stuck in New Orleans brought most of their suffering upon themselves. — Duck–

Now let me explain my statement and preface it. First, I am very sorry for those who have lost literally everything and I am saddened for them. I wish no ill will on them and hope that they will be able to survive this tragic ordeal and be able to once again live. That said, I think it’s important to realize that most of these people, not all, were in complete defiance of a civil order by the police and major of New Orleans. All residents were instructed to leave the city days before the hurricane came. It was a mandatory evacuation. Mandatory. Evacuation. But thousands ignored it and stayed behind. Outside of being immobile, I really can not think of any excuse that one would have to keep themselves situated in hells path. I read that some thought it wouldn’t be as bad as many had been stating but that doesn’t matter, they were ordered to leave the city.

It is tough to feel for these people left in the cesspool of the city below sea level when they defiantly disobeyed orders that would have prevented the very pain they are now suffering. Additionally, this is now costing you and me money as the federal government now needs to orchestrate evacuation operations that would have not been needed at the current scale if these people had just obeyed the original order. Their civil disobedience is now costing us more money. As if that wasn’t enough, now these people are looting, burning buildings, and shooting at military helicopters. Dude, are you insurgents? What country are you living in?

I heard one person defend their action of looting as it was to feed is family and help them survive. Mmm, interesting angle. If he had cared about his family, maybe he would have left the city when originally told. Others could be seen carrying boxes of Nike shoes from some stores. Ya, that’s your basic survival needs, huh?

Now I understand that there would be some that just could not make it out in time for what ever reason and all this isn’t even directed to them. Most of the people I see at the Super Dome where able to get there, prove they could have gotten out of the city, too. But there are few who had medical and other issues preventing them from leaving their homes. Those, sadly, I think will be the majority of those found dead in their homes, not in the Super Dome.

I would like to think all this would teach a valuable experience to those that didn’t listen and stayed but I know it won’t because of their unintelligent decision to stay would indicated that this probably wasn’t the first stupid mistake they have made. Further, they’ll find way to lay blame on someone instead of taking responsibility upon themselves. But maybe, just maybe, one person did learn something. I hope so.

You know, if there was anything I wished the anti-Iraq war protesters were right about, it was the “blood for oil” thing. I mean, in a way they were right, ’cause the oil I’m pumping into my car is bleeding me. $3 a gallon…more then twice the cost I paid before the war started. I just guess their logic was as bad as the rest of the logic they used to be against the war in the first place. Them and Cindy don’t have all the facts lined up to have made a logic argument.

And now, drum roll please, Katrina is shutting down oil rigs and refineries and, yup, you guessed it, higher prices at the pump, again.

Folks, the truth is, follow the money, not this lame political reasoning. Who’s making money off all these higher priced barrels? Mmm, well judging from Unical’s and Chevron’s record profits, I would have to say those two oil companies aren’t taking it in the pocket. Or how ’bout the Saud’s, our friends? Mmm-hmm, they’re doing might fine too. I heard the prince ordered his twentieth Mercedes Benz (S65 AMG) and is looking to get the only Maybach Exelero that exists.

The oil companies and OPEC are ripping us off and the war had nothing to do with oil. I really wished this silly argument was true at this point because I’m not found of pumping $3 a gallon into my car and I know this isn’t it, either. Watching the gas rise in tens of cents per week is really disheartening and remembering the Blood for Oil banners just plain frustrating. Maybe we should invade Saudi Arabia for this reason and that would help us. :)
