MacPractice, Inc., the leading practice management and clinical applications company for Mac and developer of MacPractice MD, MacPractice DDS, MacPractice DC, and MacPractice 20/20 is collaborating with NewCrop™, a leading provider of electronic prescriptions, drug interaction and insurance formulary solutions.

In a release this fall, all MacPractice applications will delivered with an extensive drug list, at no additional cost. In addition, every MacPractice user will be permitted to use the NewCrop Electronic Prescribing system, which is an easy-to-use, web-based software solution that is safe and secure. This system requires no downloading and no new hardware and is also available at no additional cost.

The interface between MacPractice and NewCrop eliminates redundant data entry and retains prescription history in the patient’s clinical record in MacPractice.

Additional content including automated allergy, drug information and review, herbals, managed care formularies, drug interactions, and leaflets for patient education in 18 languages will be offered on a subscription basis. Managed care connectivity, as an option, provides an all-doctor drug history.

In July legislation was passed to increase payments made by Medicare to physicians who ePrescribe in 2009, and decrease payments to those who do not in 2010. The government is in the process of adding more strenuous requirements, and MacPractice is collaborating with NewCrop to satisfy those requirements.

“We are pleased to contribute to the improvement of healthcare in America by supplying doctors with a solution for ePrescribing on a Mac that also improves efficiency and will increase their reimbursement,” stated Mark Hollis, President and co-founder of MacPractice.

Physicians, dentists, chiropractors and eye doctors are encouraged to view QuickTime demonstration movies of MacPractice software after registering at MacPractice.com.

Two thousand two hundred (2200) doctors offices have chosen MacPractice to provide their practice management software and technical support. MacPractice, Inc. also supports the use of DentalMac, MediMac, and ChiroMac for several hundred offices.

Smule Products Sonic Lighter

Boy, can I remember all those nights of burning my finger from keeping my Bic lit during Def Leppard’s Bringing On a Heartache, the Scorpion’s Still Loving You, or Motley Crue’s Home Sweet Home. Needing to keep the flame alive during these and other power ballads of my youth, my finger always ended up becoming blistered from the heat of the thumb wheel every time I relit my lighter. Man, how I wished I had an iPhone and Sonic Lighter back then.

It took a group of Stanford and Princeton music PhD’s (see, even these guys know the needs of Stoners every where) to come up with a safe way to show the rockers on stage that we can bring them a light show from the vast sea of die hard fans. Sonic Lighter is totally realistic and allows you to not just light the flame but also interact with it. Touch it and watch it dance around your finger. Tip the phone to the side and watch it burn the insides of your Cupertino-designed hardware. Blow at the flame (and blow long) and watch the flame extinguish! But if that wasn’t enough, worry not my pyro, you can find others with your same love around the country lighting up by glancing the global flame map.

Now, others have offered far much less than this wonderful flaming piece of software so at a penny under a dollar, it’s a steal. A fire sale, almost! So after watching the video demo of it on YouTube, purchase it on the App Store and impress all your rocking friends tonight!

DDH Software - HanDBase for iPhone and iPod Touch

Apple has had immense success with the iPhone as an application platform since the opening of the App Store in early July. With over 100 million downloads in just 60 days, iPhone users are frantic for software on their super-duper phone. Yet even with thousands of applications to choose from there still is many holes left at the App Store for various programs. Even with rapid development from software vendors and authors, the voids will continue for some time. Well, HanDBase wants to change that this winter with the release of the first full out relational database.

DDH Software has announced on its site that indeed it is bringing its well known database to the iPhone. With a three minute video to prove it, many will surely become excited by what they see in the video. For all those needing a certain application that just isn’t there in the App Store, they will soon be able to just download databases from the HanDBase website right from their iPhone. For free in many cases. Ranging from sales, CRM, medical databases, patient billing, and tracking systems, the vast amount of possibilities to fill your void will be incredible. Since these are fully functioning databases, you’ll be able to edit and tweak each database to your suiting or leave as is. With access to many built-in features of the iPhone, you’ll be able to tap on web addresses and view the page in Safari or email a client or friend from the address right in a database field with a simple tap of the finger. The easy and fluid interface structure of the iPhone seamlessly powers the HanDBase application and will leave little room for confusion while navigating ones database.

No pricing has been announce or a specific release date; however, do look for it in the end of the 4th quarter of this year. Further information can be obtained by visiting the site.

IDoc2_Boxshot.jpg

We all hear it from our wives or girlfriends, “Can’t you make me look better? Take out my blemish. Cover my zits. Make me look thinner.” It goes on and on and anyone that works in PhotoShop knows how much time these requests take. So in the end, we just don’t do them. With Alien Skin’s Image Doctor 2, however, you’ll be able to two out of the three of the requests in no time at all.

Graphic artist and just all around nice guy, Roger Hall has taken the time to learn Image Doctor 2 and use it and abuse it. He used his wife and two old pictures as examples for his review and you can read the results of it.

Anyone that has a collection of old photos or would like to touch up photos of model work quickly and efficiently, will want to take a look at Roger at to say about Image Doctor 2.

We all have them: lists. We all need to check ‘em off. We all have iPhones. Mmm, okay, all of us cool people. ;) But seriously, if you are an iPhone/iPod Touch user with the need to keep better track of your lists and you’re not apt to just buy away on the App Store to find the best one, then you may want to read our latest review of SplashShopper.

The popular list program that has graced BlackBerrys, Palms, and Windows Mobile devices, as well as desktops, for some time now comes to the Apple made smartphone! If you were a fan of it on those platforms or you’ve never even heard of this application (not sure how that’s possible), then you need — no must — read this review before making your purchase. Heck, even if you’ve bought a list application, still read this. You may ditch it for SplashShopper.

lfm2.mov-1.jpg

Those familiar with last.fm with an iPhone will be excited to know that 2.0 is just around the corner and SvenOnTech as a full video demo of it. Leaked on last.fm’s site, SvenOnTech obtained the QuickTime video and is now making it available here on our site. The 3 minute and 35 second video runs through pretty extensively the features of last.fm 2.0. Most noted in the video is the cleaner and better streamlined interface. With an icon bar on the bottom for Bio, Tags, Similar Artists, Events, and Top Listeners, one will be able to quickly move around last.fm. With the ability to link in contacts from the iPhones address book and an extensive Events calendar to find when your favorite band, or newly discovered band, is playing near by, last.fm 2.0 looks to be very promising.

For those unfamiliar with last.fm, it is self-described as, “A music service that learns what you love… Every track you play will tell your Last.fm profile something about what you like. It can connect you to other people who like what you like - and recommend songs from their music collections and yours too.” Play music and it learns what you like and makes suggestions of other bands you may like. The idea is that you’ll discover a band that you’ve never heard of before that you love.

With the newest version just around the corner, this should prove to make last.fm even more popular than before.
