Full Review
Business or pleasure this unit fits the price. This unique speaker is quite appealing for several uses, anything that uses a standard 3.5mm jack output for that matter. Portable DVD and CD players, laptops, and MP3 players too. The mm28 brings personal music players to a new standard of listening enjoyment, but can be used for other applications too. Laptop sales presentations can be more effective with real sound instead of laptop sound. What about corporate presentations, using a laptop and a projectors with sound? Or how about a dorm room student that has hundreds of MP3’s on his laptop and doesn’t want transistor radio sounds from those tiny speakers that come with the notebook?

The sound quality is great for the size of this unit which uses NXT SurfaceSound technology, “to create an impressively wide soundstage with a performance level more commonly associated with far larger products.” The bass is rich and the highs are crisp. The mm28 can produce enough sound to be heard fairly well from over 75 feet away on battery power. By no means is this a replacement for the home surround sound system or the personal computer powered systems but is a great alternative to the wimpy speakers that are installed in a laptop or portable DVD, not to mention being tethered to a MP3 player.

The mm28 is powered by 4 AA batteries (not included) or the compact AC power adapter which is included. They claim a whopping 45 hour battery life, though we didn’t verify that. Our iPod nano did, however, die and after a recharge, the mm28 still sounded as good as ever. We probably put in at least 12 hours into this unit for this review. That’s pretty amazing in itself.

The clear speaker cover is closed for transportation to protect the speaker and used as the stand when in use to hold the speakers for direct sound. When I first opened the box and I was giving it the “touchy feely” I wasn’t expecting much because of the size. To my surprise my tunes sounded good! Although max volume from the iPod can be too much for the mm28 and give you awful distortion. We did find using the iPods EQ setting of “Small Speakers” sounded the best with Logitech’s speaker system.

Overall
Like I first stated in the review, this is a great little speaker set and it’ll be a great addition to a students small room, sales persons slide show presentation, or some guy building a house wanting to hear his iPod while he finishes up home, sweet, home.
