ThinkGeek :: iCADE - iPad Arcade Cabinet

What started off as an April’s Fool joke has turned into a bonifide product from the crazy folks at ThinkGeek. The idea was to place an iPad into a miniature arcade game console and turn the iPad into an actual retro gamers paradise. Well, response was overwhelming and ThinkGeek figured that since they came, we’ll build it. Teaming up with Atari and it’s Greatest Hits package of yesteryear games, ThinkGeek will allow you to play Asteroids, Centipede, and nearly 100 games just like you did in the old days with a five-position joystick and rounded buttons. Now what geek that grew up in the 80s wouldn’t want this for their iPad? Heck, what geek wouldn’t buy an iPad just for this?

I was hot to place the iCADE into my shopping cart until I saw the price. $100. Yikes, for a joystick, a few buttons, and Bluetooth connectivity? Oh ya, the “wood” case and graphics. Dude, that’s a bit too pricey for my taste. To tell you the truth, I’m not sure I’d even grab one for half the price. Well, maybe.

I’m curious how well this will sell, especially when that’s a tank of gas to most people today, in this tough economy. Still, it’s a great idea that I hope sticks around so that when I can afford it, I may just get it to relive those glory days in the local arcade.

Several innovative features distinguish myPower for iPhone 4:
Swappable Battery Module
myPower for iPhone 4 features Tekkeon’s new innovative eSwap™ technology, in which the battery is housed in a separate module that can be exchanged with a fresh battery module while on the go. This enables users to carry extra, fully-charged battery packs, making its additional hours virtually limitless. The battery case comes with the Ultra Slim 1200 mAh battery pack, with extra battery packs¾both the Ultra Slim battery pack and the Ultra Power 2200 mAh battery pack¾available as optional modules.

Preserves iPhone 4 Battery
Equipped with a replaceable efficient lithium polymer battery pack, myPower for iPhone 4 preserves the iPhone battery by bypassing the battery and directly powering (rather than charging) iPhone 4. When plugged into a USB power adapter or computer USB port, myPower for iPhone 4 will simultaneously charge the connected iPhone 4 battery.

Highly Efficient Design Provides Maximum Power
Designed with intelligent circuitry, myPower for iPhone 4 provides an unheard of 95% efficiency which means the condensed lithium polymer battery provides maximum power output without adding substantial weight or size to iPhone 4. Inherent with this advanced battery technology are all the key battery safety features, including built-in protection from over current, overcharging, over discharging, overheating, and short circuiting.
myPower for iPhone 4, depending on the battery module, almost doubles or more than doubles the iPhone 4 battery:

If you’re looking for a case for your iPad or those cool, thin, protective films for it…or for the iPhone, then take a look at our reviews section. We just posted three reviews on a case and film protection for the iPad as well as a protective coating for the iPhone 3GS. Also, if you’re looking for a new and beautiful way to discover day-to-day news, you will want to read our review on Blancspot. Incredible stuff to be read!

Apple® enthusiasts can now take their new iPhone® 4 from the retail box to an OtterBox™ as the Colorado case manufacturing company unveils its Defender Series™ case. Impact Series™ and Commuter Series™ cases are coming soon.

“We set the bar high for quality and durability,” OtterBox founder and CEO Curt Richardson said. “Extensive research and testing is done to ensure our cases are precision-fit and proven to withstand abuse. Great design takes time and we are confident to now deliver our signature Defender Series protection for the iPhone 4.”

Now available, the original multi-layer case provides the most rugged protection available for the iPhone 4. First, a polycarbonate shell made of hi-impact, shatter-resistant material is installed. Built into the shell is a clear Multi-Touch display screen cover as well as a clear cover for the Apple logo cutout on the backside. Finally, a silicone skin wraps around and locks into the shell resulting in a unified, nearly indestructible solution. Also included is a holster-style swivel belt clip.*

The black OtterBox Defender Series case for the Apple iPhone 4 has been officially NAC tested to address the loss in signal strength. Test results indicate this case solves the antenna issue by acting as a dielectric between the two antennas of the device. No loss of signal strength occurs when using the iPhone 4 in a Defender Series case.

Coming soon, the OtterBox Commuter Series case features two layers of device security for a completely new level of innovation. A silicone mid-layer and a polycarbonate shell combine to provide protection from bump and shock, while the self-adhering screen protector defends from scratching. Similar to the Impact Series, the Commuter Series will offer coverage for the iPhone 4 power button, volume rocker and home button. Additionally, this line provides silicone plugs for the charging port and headphone jack that flip open for access.** Customers can sign up online to receive notification about case availability.

No one does a silicone skin like OtterBox. The OtterBox Impact Series, also coming soon, is a single layer silicone skin, yet far from simplistic. With inner coring to dissipate shock away from the iPhone 4, this case option will provide durable protection and innovative features. Silicone covers the power button, volume rocker and home button to protect from dirt and dust, yet does not interfere with functionality. The charging port and headphone jack remain open and accessible.*** Customers can sign up online to receive notification about case availability.

All cases will accommodate every feature of the iPhone 4 with tight precision including proximity sensors, ambient light sensors, secondary mics and speakers. For full technical specifications for each series, visit the product pages at

Contour Flip

I had been looking for a case for my iPhone that would protect the product but still be slim enough to slip into my wallet. Most cases available are rather bulky and make it hard to use the controls on the phone. The Flick forms closely to the phone allowing for full use of all controls. The Flick does not get in the way of the face of the phone but rather forms right around the silver edging of the face making a very nice outline.

PR_Uniea_New Australian iPad Case Retailer.doc

Universal Electronic Accessories (“Uniea”), a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative electronic accessories, announced today that Electronics Warehouse of Australia will begin to carry Uniea’s innovative Omniverse iPad case, becoming the first online retailer in Australia to offer Uniea iPad cases. Electronics Warehouse will initially offer the Omniverse case line in its signature silk fiber material in black, red, and green.

Electronics Warehouse has had its eye on the Uniea product line for some time now. Since 2005, Uniea has quickly become an emerging leader in consumer electronics accessories, offering a wide range of case models for the iPod, iPhone, and laptops. Their Omniverse iPad case, however, marks an impressive new design concept for them, combining style and protection that fits the iPad perfectly.

“We’ve been considering the Uniea brand for quite some time now,” says Steven Kellett, owner and manager of Electronics Warehouse. “We were waiting for a really exciting new design from them to introduce their brand to our customers, and the Omniverse iPad case is clearly it.”

Considering that over 50,000 iPads were bought in Australia in the first weekend of its release alone, Mr. Kellett sees the Omniverse as the right case for the right product at the right time. While most early case designs for the iPad are little more than thin plastic “shell cases,” the Omniverse iPad case is a padded tote/sleeve hybrid that uses memory foam to cushion the device in the event that it is dropped. “We think that the iPad is going to be a very droppable gadget,” added Mr. Kellett. “The Omniverse will give iPad users the peace of mind of knowing that their iPad can survive even a nasty drop.”

And whereas most totes and sleeves for the iPad simply work as bags, Uniea’s Omniverse case zips open 200 degrees and fastens the iPad with unique corner flaps, allowing iPad users to use their iPad while it is still in the case.

Electronics Warehouse plans to have its Omniverse cases available to customers by mid June.

Uniea’s Omniverse iPad case continues to compete well is the Asia Pacific market. With the iPad recently debuting in Australia, however, this new partnership with Electronics Warehouse most certainly gives Uniea a tremendous reach into the Australian tech market, since Electronics Warehouse is a leading online retailer of electronics accessories in Australia.
