AT&T Messaging Unlimited Plans - Mobile to Any Mobile Plan - from AT&T

Looks like AT&T is already prepping for the mass exodus of iPhone users to the largest cellular carrier, Verizon. With reports already out that the Death Star will return users to the unlimited data plan of yesteryear, AT&T now seems to be saying out loud that it wants you to stay. And hey, free mobile to any mobile minutes are great since more and more people are using cell phones for their primary telecommunication. Now, we’ll skip the part about actually being able to make a call from your AT&T equipped iPhone to just keep this shot and sweet. :)

This deal is only available via AT&T’s web site and you must have some features on your plan already such as unlimited texting ($20 individual, $30 family) and a certain select calling plan. If you have all that, then go and sign up…oddly on the same day the Verizon iPhone goes on sale to the public.

MyFord Mobile App

Ford has finally responded to GMs mobile application suite due to be available for every 2011 GM vehicle with MyFord Mobile. Like GMs offering, Ford owners will have access to unlock or lock their doors, checking the charging status of the batteries (if you have such items in your Ford,) and unlike GM, the addition of MapQuest giving you access to the nearest gas station. Unlike GM, Ford has decided to go the universal way and make the app a Web App to allow greater access among all devices. While I give Ford kudos for implementing HTML5 for its Web App (WAP 2.0 will also be available for dumb phones,) one only has to look at the iPhone as an example of how well that works. During its first year run, the iPhone with Web Apps barely made a blip on the handheld as many were frustrated with the slow displaying graphics and constant wait with each link tapped. Once Steve Jobs announced native applications for the iPhone, the developer community rejoiced and today we have the most successful app store and a new revolution in smartphones. GM went with the revolution and Ford went with frustration. That’s disappointing. Maybe it will make a change when countless calls of disgruntled users voice their mayhem or when it reads the marketing reports showing more consumers purchasing GMs because it had an iPhone app.

That said, enjoy the press release! :)

I believe that Scosche’s PRO App will prove to be a valuable tool for both seasoned professionals and novice installers.” He added, “ Scosche’s PRO App will help dealers reduce labor hours by giving installers the tools they need to quickly, efficiently and correctly install aftermarket systems into vehicles.”

The Scosche PRO App will be an easy-to-use interface that allows an installer to browse the App by vehicle to easily find the information the installer needs for the project he is currently working on. In addition to identifying the exact accessories that fit a vehicle, Scosche’s PRO App, debuting at the Consumer Electronics Show January 5-9, 2011 in Las Vegas, possesses the following key features:

The AutoSound Encyclopedia includes detailed vehicle information and concise explanations and step-by-step procedures through illustration. The AutoSound Encyclopedia offers accurate deck, dash and panel dimensions, speaker and component installation options, detailed illustrations of dash and panel disassembly, troubleshooting system noise, factory wiring codes and much more.

Tech Tools
With Scosche’s PRO App, installers will have the tech tools they need right at their fingertips. Having the tech tools within one application on their phones will enable installers to quickly find the information they need without having to stop the installation and fumble around to look for a tool. Some tech tools included in the APP includes an OHM’s Law Calculator, Resistance Calculator, Factory Wiring Codes, and Bluetooth Compatibility Chart.

Push to Talk
Should an installer need additional assistance, Scosche’s PRO App will allow callers to speak directly to Scosche technical support with the push of a single button. Installers will be able to connect with a live voice and receive visual technical assistance during the install process. While speaking with technical support, visual information, such as wiring diagrams, schematics, and instructions, can be delivered by Scosche technical support directly to the installer’s phone.

Instant Messaging/Chat
An installer can also choose to use the instant messenger feature to type in a question for Scosche technical support. Touching the instant messenger button on the PRO App will open an instant messaging window and the installer will be instantly chatting with a live technician within the Scosche technical support department.

“Scosche is pleased to debut the next generation of mobile support to the aftermarket industry at the Consumer Electronics Show,” continued Alves. “We believe Scosche’s PRO App will improve installer productivity and knowledge.
