The NetVanta 3305 router equipped with the NetVanta 3G NIM is ideal for a number of applications including use as a reliable network failover/backup option for large businesses or as a primary connection for smaller businesses. Used in a backup configuration, network traffic can be diverted to the 3G wireless connection in the event of a primary circuit failure, guaranteeing network connectivity. The NetVanta 3G NIM in the NetVanta 3305 router can also be used as a primary connection in applications requiring broadband speeds, rapid deployment or where wireline connections are not readily available.
“The ability to use the NetVanta 3G NIM for wireless service in conjunction with our Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) has been a great asset to our bank,” said Jeremy Carrigan, network administrator, Citizens National Bank. “The 3G NIM allowed us to service a highly congested tourist area that could not otherwise be accessed via wireline service and it performed flawlessly.”
“We’re delighted to be strengthening our relationship with ADTRAN,” said Michael Schaefer, executive director-mobility solutions, Verizon. “The NetVanta 3G NIM’s introduction will give existing NetVanta 3305 customers the ability to quickly and easily add 3G services with the simple addition of a NIM.”
“The addition of 3G wireless capability to our NetVanta 3305 routers really adds to our options for backing up a failed circuit, in addition to being an attractive primary access selection for applications such as ATMs, lotteries, and kiosks, ” said Tim Saunders, vice president of Product Management, ADTRAN Enterprise Networks Division. “Now, both enterprise and Small and Medium Business (SMB) customers will benefit from the many advantages NetVanta products offer ranging from cost savings and reliability, to ease of use and support.”
The NetVanta 3G NIM is designed for use with a wide range of NetVanta platforms and is currently certified for use in the NetVanta 3305 with Verizon Wireless in conjunction with its BroadbandAccess Wireless Router service. The NetVanta 3G NIM carries a list price of $795 while the NetVanta 3305 has a list price of $1,295 both products are currently shipping. Verizon Wireless service plans are available through Verizon Wireless.

RadioFrame Networks, the
leader in small footprint, low cost wireless base stations, announced
that its software-controlled S-Series picocell solution will be deployed
by European mobile market leader Orange from the start of 2008.
RadioFrame’s S-Series product will power Orange’s recently announced
Onsite Coverage service and is expected to be the first mobile solution
to be widely deployed specifically for enhanced coverage to smaller
remote and inaccessible business locations in Europe.
RadioFrame and Orange have been trialing the service with customers
since mid-2007 with positive results. Expected to be more cost efficient
to deploy, Orange’s Onsite Coverage service adds to the existing Orange
product portfolio and will improve coverage to mobile customers of all
sizes. Most importantly, coverage enhancements will result in mobile
coverage in even the most difficult to cover areas such as those
challenged by hilly terrain, concrete, steel or offices that are below
ground level. The solution can also boost existing capacity in urban
areas with dense phone usage such as shopping centers or large office
blocks.
“For several years now, RadioFrame has been developing breakthrough
technology for wireless network operators that improves service quality
and reduces time to market and network deployment costs,” said
RadioFrame Networks Chief Executive Officer Jeff Brown. “We are mindful
that as we develop interesting technology, however, it only matters when
the solutions are deployed commercially. For a wireless network operator
of Orange’s size and reputation to begin commercial deployment of our
technology is a significant milestone for RadioFrame and an indication
of the bright prospects of the indoor coverage solution industry as a
whole.”

Remember how many new bands you found out about when Napster first torched the backbone of the Internet in the late 90s before Lars got to it? Ya, finding really cool bands that rocked and lived what they said, unlike Metallica. For the most part, those days are gone though you can venture on the ledge of legality with P2P software that have taken over the Napster file sharing duties of the last millennium if your luck runs high in Vegas. But for most, relying on radio, features like iTunes suggestion, and friends is about the only way to find a new flavor for your ice cream cone. Not anymore.
iLike is a social network that aims to bring back the discovery of the original Napster. With its iTunes plugin, you’ll be able to see what others are listening to and what your common likes are. Like the P2P networks, the more people online at the same time, the more diverse music can be found and the knowledge shared among you all. You’ll be able to connect to others music libraries, see related music based on your tastes, and even download free (and legal) music from new artists. All with a click of a mouse button.
If you like what you hear, check out iLike and create your free account and then install the iTunes plugin. Share in the freedom, once again.

Lava Software is now shipping PasswordVault v5.2, a simple and practical enterprise-level password manager for Windows, MacOS X (Universal Binary), MacOS Classic and Linux(i86). This new version offers a selection of button graphic styles including ?Aqua?, ?Sketch? and ?Win32?, increased web form auto-fill speed, improved ?Quick Start? information, and additional MacOS X detail in the user manual. It is a free upgrade for all users.
Users can now select from three different button graphic styles: Aqua complements the liquid MacOS X user interface design, whilst ‘Win32′ matches the colorful interface of Windows XP. Sketch provides a refreshing alternative art deco style for users who want something different. All button graphic styles are available on all platform versions. There are also eleven different skins built into PasswordVault, including ‘Brushed Platinum’, ‘Water’, ‘Golden Bee Hive’ and ‘Wax Drops’. Many combinations of button graphic styles and skins are now possible, allowing users to select the user interface look they like.
Standard features in PasswordVault include auto-filling of Web forms (two-click logins), very strong 896-bit encryption, a unique Master Password Recovery System (MPRS), random password generator, auto-lock timer (with clipboard clear), very powerful import and export functions (for easy backup and transfer), masked passwords, user defined service categories, editable notes, selectable skins, detailed reports after portable/desktop sync, and enhanced support for use in large organizations (The University of Illinois purchased site licenses of PasswordVault for their campuses at Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield in 2004, renewing their license in 2005 and again in 2006). The portable version (bundled free with the desktop version) runs directly off USB flash drives and iPods, providing users with secure access to their data when they’re on the road, as well as the convenience of auto-synchronization when they return to their desktop computer.
The new Professional Edition offers additional features for password management and control within organizations, including secure auto-distribution (via shared network drives on LANs or via Web server URLs), secure multi-user password synchronization, and logging of auto-exports and auto-import service changes. It provides a simple but powerful cross-platform enterprise-level password management solution for companies, schools, universities and other organizations. The auto-distribution system is very flexible. For example, it can ensure a group of normal users always have the latest passwords managed by a privileged user, it can keep passwords in selected categories synchronized between a group of users, or it can synchronize privileged users and propagate changes to normal users.
For a limited time, small businesses and home users can purchase the 5 user pack of PasswordVault Pro for USD39.00 (normally USD49.00). Other pack sizes are also available for larger businesses and organizations, such as the 20 user pack for USD99.00, the 50 user pack for USD199.00, and the 100 user pack for USD299.00. etribes today launches the latest in a suite of new features with the introduction of its mobile video-sharing service through which etribes members can simply send (MMS) mobile video clips to their own free personal website.
etribes customers create their own personal website at the push of a button, updating it regularly with news, photos, videos and documents. The service is designed for busy adults who do not want the hassle or technical challenge of maintaining a blog, but do want to be able to share content easily with friends and family.
etribes members can already MMS photos straight from their mobile phone to their personal website. From today they will do the same with video clips. Simon Grice, CEO, says that video posting opens a new dimension to the service:
“Very few people in our target market know how to download photos or videos from their mobile phone, so being able to MMS photos or video clips to their own personal website is a great solution”. He continued:
“The success of video sharing sites such as YouTube shows how popular these services can be. Our customers don’t want to show their videos to the whole world, but they do want to share them with close friends and family”.
Earthcomber LLC announced today that it has been awarded a patent for a location-based search system that allows individuals to constantly sweep their surroundings for their personal interests.
The patented method provides a means to notify a user about people, places and things nearby that match that person’s specific preferences.
“Personalization and privacy have become so important to mobile users,” said Jim Brady, founder and CEO of Earthcomber LLC. “With our approach, users build profiles to suit their preferences – essentially a ‘DNA’ of all your personal tastes and interests. Then, when you do a search, you get back only those things nearby that match your preferences.”
The patent was announced today at the Directory Driven Commerce conference organized by The Kelsey Group. As the public increasingly relies on mobile devices to deliver local, personalized content, the patent is expected to be a key enabler for mobile advertisers, including directory publishers such as Yellow Pages and newspapers.
By law, advertisers cannot transmit messages to mobile consumers without users’ permission. Earthcomber’s method allows an advertiser’s message to reach the user if the user has stated an explicit preference for something that the advertiser offers, and if the advertiser is within the user’s specified range.
“Mobile advertising is the perfect medium for one-to-one marketing,” Brady said. “It’s one thing to send somebody an email offer. It’s a whole new ball game when the advertiser can communicate to consumers when they are nearby, and show them a potential transaction they are deliberately looking for. Our approach transforms mobile search into a positive environment in which buyers and sellers connect for mutual benefit.”
The patent is also expected to provide a foundation for social networking on mobile devices. For example, mobile users can be alerted about friends nearby, or people with common characteristics (schools, organizations, acquaintances).
The company features the methodology in its free, location-based personal navigation suite for Palm OS, Windows Mobile Pocket PC, and Java-capable cell phones and PDAs.
The company plans to continue bringing innovations to mobile search and its applications. The company is also evaluating licensing opportunities for the patent.
For more information, visit the company’s website at www.earthcomber.com or call (708) 366-1600.

Oh I don’t believe what I just watched. This needs to be reported to the FTC because this is just straight up a lie!
The telecommunications industry has spent over $6 million in the last six months to stop Net Neutrality, a law that would disallow telecoms to set up a tier charging scheme giving it billions more from likes such as Google and YouTube. How? The telecoms, or ISPs, would charge Google, say, $1
,000 more a day because it “uses more bandwidth” than home users. The latter part of the statement is true; however, Google already pays more for that bandwidth in its contract to begin with! I know, I was in this industry from the day it started and I remember our bandwidth charges “at the cage” and it wasn’t a pretty penny. You think gas is expensive? Shesh. With this tier scheme, the telecoms will get even more and then guess what? We WILL have to pay for it because Google just won’t be able to furnish free search results due to a lack of funding from its ad revenue stream. The telecoms totally know this but won’t admit it because it wants a free ride for future infrastructure improvements.
I am absolutely horrified by this ad and can’t believe how boldly it lies. Since the average person knows nothing about technology, we’re going to end up with more Senator Stevens (sans the healthy bank account deposits) than educated Net surfers. Don’t be fooled by this, call your Senator and DEMAND Net Neutrality!
